San Jose Sharks’ playoff hopes crash after a brutal 6-1 loss to the Anaheim Ducks. Is it time for youth to take center stage? With Macklin Celebrini shining as a potential NHL superstar and core pieces like William Eklund and Will Smith showing promise, the spotlight shifts to whether prospects Luca Cagnoni, Quentin Musty, and Filip Bystedt should get the call-up for the Sharks’ remaining games. JD Young explores the implications of this transition, offering sharp insights on the team’s growth, tank position for a top-10 draft pick, and why playoff-style hockey remains elusive.
Questions arise on coach Ryan Warsofsky’s lineup decisions—why do veterans keep getting ice time while rising talents wait in the wings? The conversation covers the Ducks’ disciplined shot blocking, disappointing offensive numbers, and the logic behind sending Igor Chernyshov to the Barracuda. As the season winds down, all eyes are on the Sharks’ future, upcoming matchups, and what bold moves management might make next.

No shame how this went tbh. All the greats had to learn how to lose before they knew how to win. And nothing but hope for next year
i really wish the coaching wasn't so stubborn as to not try smith at 2C or 2RW to drive the second line… smith & celly are magic, and off-ice friends, chem off the charts.. can still load up PP1 with them, but seriously teams are just double-triple teaming the top line… and it shows our depth issues!! agree with you on who to sit and to bring up the kids and give them a couple cookies before their summer training and camp next year
Team tank here. I was low key worried this defense has no business being in the playoffs 😂
put the callups on celly's wing line one, or smitty's wing line two, bystedt, musty, halttunnen, lund, cherny, try misa on LW with smith or celly… everyone else sits or is line 3 & 4
I do think Smith looked pretty rough tonight, carrying over from last night. On the upside, Pohlkamp and McKinney played one hell if a game in the Frozen Four semis
Edit: fully agree with the Warso sentiment
Tank and get that draft capital to put towards a d-man trade
I understand wanting to shuffle up lines until something clicks early/mid season. But at this point in the season Warsofsky should be instilling more trust in the already established lines and giving them more chances. The sharks play so chaotic and frantic when Warsofsky does this in these playoff style games.
Warso: "Fate of the universe on the line I WANT DELLANDREA!"
Igor did get a head injury. Which is not something too be taken likey!
