Interference innocent? Martinook on Aspirot: You be the judge – Have your say!

Jordan Martinook picked up an interference minor penalty for this contact with Jonathan Aspirot. On the one hand, Martinook does drift into Aspirot’s lane and cut him off, but on the other hand, where else was Martinook supposed to go?
Penalty or not: have your say!

  1. I guess Matinook is supposed to loop back toward the center to avoid Aspirot, but it is a tough break.

  2. I thought live this was not interference, and watching again, I still think it's not interference (Bruins fan btw)

  3. Whether or not the play is intentional is irrelevant. This is interference. The defenceman isn't responsible for avoiding the forward at the line. It was the player carrying the puck that caused the interference by cutting to the inside. It looked like he intended on using his team mate as a pick.
Btw an infraction doesn't have to be intentional for it to be called. Most tripping penalties or high sticking penalties are accidental. This might not have been called if it didn't create a scoring opportunity. But since it did create a scoring chance it had to be called.
I can't believe that you actually questioned this call.

  4. I think you should be allowed to run into whoever, whenever, however. I mean, what are we supposed to do? Open our eyes?
