I like the trade because he plays like tanev but he can score and isn’t as injury pron and is very physical in his end of the ice
Rare Benning W
Shoulda fleeced em on that contract bro
Sooo defensive core?
Hughes Schmidt
Edler Myers
Juolevi Chatfield
Benn Rafferty??
Seems ok on the surface, but I feel like they are just kicking the can down the road regarding the cap.
Vancouver Capitals > Calgary Canucks
LEGO I think I saw you biking
It's not just a 3rd. It's 5×6 for a "pretty good" player with a bad contract. Would've been way more solid to keep Markstrom and Tanev. Vegas was looking for a mark to take him off their hands and they found one. Benning is an idiot.
He’s replacing edler next season
Trust us he is GREAT
Good pick up
I really like Nate Schmidt. I was very relieved to see Benning address that hole on the right side, playing alongside Quinn Hughes, as I'm sure a lot of other Canucks fans were pulling their hair out seeing Tanev and Toffoli go. I expected Markstrom to get what he deserved, in a nice big contract for the first time in his career. With Stecher, I thought he was very solid this year, including the playoffs and was initially baffled that Benning didn't re-sign him considering the AAV he took in Detroit, but then I thought, you know, he'll get the playing time he deserves there and ultimately, he is replaceable in Vancouver's system with guys like Rafferty, Chatfield, Juolevi and Brisbois playing well in the AHL. I think it the RHD hole on the 1st pairing with Hughes certainly could have been addressed via free agency (Gustafsson, Shattenkirk, Krug, Brodie, Vatanan), but considering that the Canucks only had to give up a 3rd round pick is huge. I know it's a pretty big salary coming back the Canucks way, but I think Schmidt could have quite a bit of success playing with Hughes. He's a competitive player, isn't afraid to throw the body and is great on PP. Another thought I had was kind of hoping Tryamkin would have been back this year to fill in that third pairing LD spot, or match him up with Myers on the second pairing, but doesn't look like that'll be an option anymore. I wouldn't mind seeing Fantenberg back in that third pairing role paired with one of the prospects that makes the jump. I wouldn't mind seeing Benn get traded for a pick just to help get $2 million off the books.
Benning on waivers!
Big upgrade over Tanev and Stetcher on the right side
this dude took all the adderall
Excellent player.. what he brings on ice to fans the community in the locker tomorrow.. definitely a player for Cup runs!
Never would have guessed this guy was Asian first time seeing his face
All part of Aizen's, I mean Benning's plan. Even this video was planned by the mastermind of Benning.
A 3rd round for a point producing top 4 D is not pricey, good move Benning.
1. He's bigger than Stetcher. 2. He's a higher points scorer, and less injury-prone, than Tanev. The only thing we're losing is chemistry. But… hopefully, we can pull it together early next season and start to grind out some wins.
Nate has been one of the top defencemen in our division in recent years," said Jim Benning. "He's a dynamic player who competes hard all over the ice. I think he will be a really good fit in our group."
Schmidt, 29, appeared in 59 games for Vegas in 2019.20 and ranked second on the team in scoring among defensemen with 31 points (7-24-31). He added nine points (2-7-9) in 20 postseason games,
He brings an element of toughness and lethal one timer from the Blindside love the trade in my view Vegas got fleece but everyone knows why.
Schmidt is definitely worth more than 3rd 2022 which could be someone making the team or not
Another Great Video Gino always very informative
Cheers Mate

Finally I’d rather pay Schmidt 5.9 million than give it to Stecher and Tanev he’s a better skater and more of a threat from the back just what we needed!
BOOM. Just logged on after working my bag off in the kitchen making a Turkey dinner spread for the family. I admit I was bummed that every day we seemed to lose another piece, thus weakening our team. I like the trade better than if we had snagged OEL as the return is less, the contract (price and term) is much less, and he's a bit younger. I know Jim Benning and Travis Green wanted to change the back end after giving up so many scoring chances last year and in the playoffs. This is a good start; Edler will be gone after next year.
VAN won on this trade. Salary might be high, but he is an good player than could play both sides and better option than the other DMen being moved.
As much as I think he’s a great player, I feel he’s worth the money, just not the term.
Super excited.
Contract is fine and is far better than tanev
He still earns less than Sweet Loui Eriksson!!! Great pick up by the Nucks…
A third rounder is practically nothing for a move that was absolutely necessary. I’m breathing a lot easier now.
Might have to short term the young stars. Jimmy will come up with a workaround..
Lego, you’re the hardest working man in hockey! Thanks for keeping us all updated.
Can you make a prediction video on next season for what teams you think are going to miss the playoffs?
cap hell
Kind of good, just wish he was a righty. But u can play 2 leftys so. At least yo know canucks future 4-5 years will be hughes, Schmidt, myers at 20 million and fill up the other holes with cheap prospects.
I think this was a pretty good acquisition. But I think Vancouver needs one more offensive threat to make up for the players they lost. I think mike Hoffman would be a perfect fit, maybe sign he would take a 20 million deal over 4 years.
He could trade for 5.9M dollars but not give Chris Tanev and Tyler Toffoli around 4.5M each? Lol what
These aren't 'picks down the drain.' You get something of value in return.
Really happy for you guys. Him & Quin are going to be amazing. I was hoping the Leafs were going to move on him.
This was a no brainer to me. A third round is not much. It's more about the cat hit that I worried about than the third round pick. I know he was a beast when we played against them so if they can't beat them sign them lol
Now what to do with sutter and #21 skelator Errikson , still another trade or buyout needs to happen. A high scoring swede to play with pettersen like nylander and another defensemen would be great. Move sven to Montreal for a 3rd rounder to replenish that pick maybe?
Note that Schmidt is reunited to his buddy Holtby.
A top pairing defenceman locked up for under 6m while giving up practically nothing? What exactly are ppl bitching about? This is pure win.
My guy Gio lookin slick with those Lucious locks of strikingly dark Asian hair ✨👊✨
canucks r tanking
Listening to you exclusively for my NHL fix nowadays. I like the Canucks bias. It's annoying listening to every team in the league rip on us.
jim benning is going to get fired
top pairing defenseman for a 3rd round pick? canucks stole him lol
One of the best moves. Win for both teams! Just imagine Hughes and Schmidt
