Honestly just make regulation wins 3 points.
I like the shootout cuz its like a mini best on best, i like the tenson of one on one. that said no offsides in OT sounds entertaining!
3 points for regular win
2 points for ot win
1 point for ot loss
0 points for regulation loss.
No shoot out. play until someone wins 3 on 3. power plays 3 vs 2 in ot. Make nets 1 inch wider for all games. start regulating goalie equipment. check for cheaters. 👀👀💯💯
Stop refs from interfering in games and fine there paychecks when they dont call the same peneatly on both teams. All coaches to video challange bad peanities. Where a third party ref makes the call from video replays.
The no offside in ot and 10 minutes 3 on 3 would be good.
In ot goalies can only play the puck in their net. Trapazoid infaction everwhere else. removes the pass back to the goalie. Playing the puck out of the offense of zone is automatic puck for the other team & other team must exit to cental red line.
A lot of different ways to fix…
I like the 0 points all around idea. It could lead to some really wide open overtime too compared to 1 each since you need a win for points and you might as well go for it.
i cant stand the shoot out. its like getting to third base and then your granparents walk in just as you start busting and you make eye contact with your grandma the entire time, and then you realize you are actually alone and streaming to a live audience on twitch.
I want an over and back rule at the red line or even the offensive blue line. Keep the action offensive. If you break it, give the puck to the defensive team behind their own net.
The 3 v 3 in OT should use the blue line like a back court violation in basketball. Can't exit the zone once you enter unless the defensive team touches the puck.

8 minutes of 4 on 4! If a powerplay occurs it’s 5 on 4 (not 4 on 3). If there is a winner in OT, losing team gets 1 point. If it’s tied at end of OT, neither team gets a point.
I love the shootouts it’s the player vs the goalie Whafs not to love that’s when we find out who’s actually better him or the goalie I get it not everyone likes that cause it’s slow some people might even say it ruins the game but I love it like it’s time to show your skills
IMO keep things the same but institute the 3-2-1-0 point system. If you want to incentivize winning in OT and not a SO, say 2 points for a shootout win and none for a loss.
We shouldn't have points decided by shootouts.
They should make the shooter defend the net, and have the goalie shoot on him.
Pittsburgh has 2 fewer wins than the Devils and the Devils' season is basically over.
3 on 3 10min and they have to make a rule that when all 3 players cross the blue line in the Ozone they have to make a play they cant skate it back out to reset/ play keepaway/line change and just hog the puck until they get the perfect setup
For years, the NHL has tinkered with OT 4v4, shootout, 3v3 shootout. Loser point. They had it right years ago. Five minutes of 5v5, if still tied, its a tie. 2 points for a win, 1 point for a loss. Done.

i think they should alternate 1min powerplays until there is a winner, home team decides who goes first and who goes 2nd
I think there should be 1 sudden death overtime period 5 on 5 Followed by a shootout. But only the winner gets points and all the goals count to the score and points for players.
it's a very NBA attitude. Ties are fine, but American culture.
I would be curious to see using this year‘s record what a three-point regulation win, two point overtime win, one point overtime loss and game tie for both teams and zero point regulation loss would due to the standings within the NHL. And I wonder if that would incentivize players to still play hard and go for the win while also not punishing teams who lose in overtime to heavily. Also, I want to see a return to four on four or five on five overtime at 10 minutes long because I think the games of endurance and still requiring teams to play without making it a skills competition puts more value in the team.

Remove the OTL point.
I have always thought OT should be. with a no "reset" rule, once you cross center you cannot go back. If you do Face off in your zone.
5 min 4 on 4
5 min 3 on 3
Then just call it a tie, also, 3 points for a win, 2 points for an OT win… no points for a loss or tie
