I do think people need to consider that the first rounder is top 12 protected, which basically means this can't turn into a super high selection from an implosion, this would be far worse if this was not protected.
Colton Dach saves this deal from being a disaster. I was upset before finding out that Edmonton was getting something else in the deal. This follows the Ike Howard logic of picking up a player who is closer to NHL ready when compared to a draft pick, he has potential and restocks the cupboards a little with Howard, Samanski and Hutson.
The lesson here is that the team needs to reevaluate its July 1st approach, the last 2 have been disastrous, that first day of free agency simply needs to be better in coming years in order to extend this window.

Overpaid? It would of cost them a 1st to get rid of mangiapantywastes contract …to get back a proven 3rd line center with energy and ability to pk plus a young power forward is a good haul for the oilers.. both players help them now plus dach can possibly help them for the next 8yrs

Obviously it’s tough to give this deal a thumbs up because Bowman created the problem in the first place…But focusing on the deal alone I actually like it. Murphy and Dickinsons PK numbers and 5v5 defensive numbers are literally league leading. They’re both top of league defensive players. They’re going to help us the in the KEY area where we lack. Idk if it will be enough but I think they’re going to be bigger difference makers than people realize. I also love the Dach addition. I know the family personally and I can tell yall for free that Colton is VERY excited to be coming home and he’s gonna become a fan favourite in no time.
Not an over pay in the era we are in right now. We need guys like this. Great PK'rs. Big, physical shut down style guys. It's a lot easier to craft a good third line with a guy like Dickerson.
