This McDavid situation has gone too far…

On Connor McDavid and his apparent criticisms of the Oilers head coach.

  1. Only fools make predictions about the future as if they actually know what's going to happen. No fan knows how to win in this league let alone what's going to happen tomorrow. The only sure things are that the Panthers are still the dirtiest team in the league and the department of Panther safety is okay with that.

  2. The problem is that this team has different lines literally every game. They even change the lines they had at practice right before the game starts. And then they change the lines during the game aswell. It's absolutely absurd. Never in my life have I seen a coach switch around his lines even close to this degree. Zero chance to build chemistry and most importantly — familiarity

  3. Lol you're fueling this issue…

Mcdavid when thru a ton of coaches with the oilers. The Tampa team has had a consistent core, coaching and mgmt.

People look for anything to make an issue out of.

  4. I’m going to have to disagree with Cooper being the best coach in the NHL right now. As far as the Jack Adams- Ruff literally turned one of the worst teams into one of the best teams mid-season.

  5. I know theres a few games left still but Lindy Ruff absolutely deserves it over Jon Cooper. Buffalos turn around is insane, Not to mention not winning in the Olympics, I know "not nhl related", but I bet if they won Gold people would be praising him saying thats why he needs to win all the same

  6. “Every game matters for both teams”

What? Is this sarcasm? This is the absolute basement of the NHL. Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary… these games are only meaningful for the oilers, unless you’re talking about tanking efforts…

I feel like I’ve just badly misunderstood what was being said here.

  7. McDavid must realise by now that his beloved Edmonton team is NOT going to win the Stanley Cup, although they have come very close for 2 yrs in a row. And when you look at the spectrum in Canada the most likely choice to win the Stanley Cup is the Montreal Canadiens. So he should bolt and join the Canadiens when his contract expires. Don't do what Marner did, and play for another non-contending team like the Vegas Knights. With Marner, being a local boy, just wanted to get out of the spotlight in Toronto.

  8. McDavid needs to get the hell away from that joke of a franchise post haste, before he wastes any more valuable years in a career that like anyone's, is only one bad injury away from termination. Draisaitl too.

Without those two, this loser outfit would be a perennial lottery team yet who always gets the blame when things go wrong? Who always gets accused of not doing enough? Who gets raked for saying something out of tune or not being a team player?

He doesn't need this garbage! They both need to pull a Patrick Roy and walk away while they still have something of value to give to a real team in a real market that can give them the support they need to succeed. He's given the Oilers 11 years and all anyone there seems to be able to do is criticize endlessly. Who the f**k wants that?

  9. Also I really hate to say this but if Edmonton makes it into the playoffs I think they can stiil put up a fight..you can never count them out i will give them that

  10. Blowing things out of proportion is not the hockey media job. Their job is to cover the facts, not twist the stories into something it is not just to get more clicks, likes, etc.

  11. I WANT to give the video a like. But I removed it…. because you keep showing the Oilers against the Stars. There aren't other teams out there in the NHL? Just the Stars?

  12. It’s not only a coach thing just compare the rosters. It’s far from being the same. The Oilers have no offensive depth, no defense and no goalie. Tampa is completely the opposite

  13. honestly this nonsense should have ended last season. mcdavid should have requested a trade after his second cup run loss. They were lucky to be there twice and to compete vs the panthers as well as they did. Now they are going to spiral until they blow everything up. Hes just wasted 2 years of his career resigning with edmonton.

  14. Yeah, McDavid definitely trashed his own franchise lmaoooo

I understand & respect that one great player alone can’t carry a team to the Stanley Cup. But throwing your coach under the bus like this is kinda embarrassing imho. If the Oilers don’t win the Cup this year, these comments won’t age well or make McDavid look good

  15. I'd love it for players to start being more honest and also ruthless in terms of picking a team to hitch their wagon to. They don't owe one organization their entire career especially when it is managed incompetently. Go somewhere where you feel like your efforts are appreciated and augmented by smart hockey decisions with the ultimate goal of winning the cup. Bowman is a horrible GM, ran the Blackhawks dynasty to the ground after being gifted the team by the previous GM and winning a few cups thanks to that. What did McDavid get in return for a 2-year team friendly deal? Bowman ''fixing'' the goalie situation with a lateral move that evolved into a downgrade in net. Not to mention the 8-year Frederic deal for $3.85m per year.

  16. Say goodbye Edmonton. Want to swap for a sligntly used Auston Matthews? Toronto would throw in Nylander. Im sure he would fit in as he doesnt listen to the coach.

  17. I suspect that Cooper is having the same trouble winning the Jack Adams that Chris Osgood has in getting to the Hockey Hall of Fame: all of his accomplishments are discounted with the rationale of "it's easier for him because he has such a good team".

  18. At this point I just want to see a canadian team win the cup within 2-3 years max. American teams not only have access to a lot of good canadian players, but also poach some of the best personel ie Cooper and others

  19. Just ridiculous, he noticed a good team organization was their key to win this starts with coach usually, it like he saying ya we lost but that team played an amazing game and they did so what ,move on ,

  20. My neighbour and I are in our 70’s and both now agree that due to poor management since McD joined the team we will not live to see another cup in Edmonton. I didn’t renew my Sportsnet sub in Feb because I couldn’t watch another season go down the toilet. I feel so badly for our star players.

  21. Cooper and the Jack Adams – probably never gonna happen. The award is not for the best coach coach, it's actually for the most surprising coaching result more or less 100% of the time.

  22. The players in Fla held each other accountable lost together, won together and lost together and now are gettong it all back together.

  23. see i think everyone is wrong here. it isn't a sleight against his coach. he was asked how to coach a team to that point, and he said, 'i dunno ask the coach im just a player' pretty much.

  24. McDavid has a history of saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. Food for thought….as a captain, if what you're saying isn't helping your team, STFU. His job is to lead the team, not be an NHL analyst. Never thought the guy was a very good captain and he seems intent on proving it.

  25. Is it a criticism when the team and coach he's referring to went back to back all he did was state a fact.
