Giroux was scared of Pronger…

Claude Giroux admits he was absolutely terrified. One public yelling, one confrontation after the game… and a moment Giroux thought might end very differently…

  1. I had the same thing happen to me personally when I was 16… You don't try to embarrass a teammate in practice by yelling at them in front of everyone. I nipped that shit in the bud right away I didn't wait till after on foot.. the kid was like you know what you're right

  2. Hey G, everyone in that building knew you fked up too.. you think your fans dont know hockey? Lol

  3. On the flip side nothing pissed me off more than forechecking your ass off for a minute and winning the puck battle, moving puck to d-man and he takes a clapper and misses the net. I’d yell, hit the f#&$ing net.

  4. LOL you got punked by Crosby in the playoffs and you expect us to believe you stood up to Pronger, Stop it. Overrated, captained the worst stretch of Flyers history. Wish this did happen then he would know what its like to hold people accountable. His teams had no identity.

  5. Hall of Famer Pronger was a true leader. We were pissed he requested a trade outta Edmonton. The rumour of course was that someone on the team had slept with his wife. Of course unsubstantiated. Credit to Giroux, he also learned incredible leadership skills and developed himself as a solid Captain

  6. WHHHHHHHAT! Beyond cool story. That's why G is captain material, puts boundaries in place as a young guy even with a captain like Chris Pronger.

  7. Pronger was a real leader. Giroux was never a leader. In fact, he was the weakest Captain in Flyers history. What has he done since the Flyers? 0

  8. Man that team would’ve won a cup with the right goalie … It was supposed to be Bryz but he was a bust

  9. Its so cool to learn that Prongs was the "tough but fair" dude I imagined he was all those years. I was at the game 10 rows behind the Flyers bench when he took Grabovskis stick to his eye. You could hear a pin drop in the building for 10 straight minutes easily. It was devastating, and I think I speak for everyone in the Philadelphia area when I say I am SO HAPPY to see him making public appearances. This man is HOF, the best defenseman and leader of his generation, and his talent isn't talked about enough because he was practically made out of tungsten.

  10. I really started to appreciate Prongs' tape to tape two zone breakout passes once he came to Philly

  11. Watching him his whole career, he turned the puck over more than his share. He wasn’t as great as everyone thinks he was.

  12. Pronger was a phenomenal defenceman. To have him and Scott Niedermayer on the same Canada team is disgusting!!

  13. So G was embarrassed? 😂
He's telling the Captain of the team not to call him out infront of the team Chris is the Captain of and mind you they keys didn't transfer to him yet and it used to be ..that "being scared" told not to eff up… it used to teach you situationaly and maybe you'd learn something about leadership from the guy wearing the 'C' the decade of the organization you are being critical of or better known as "Butt hurt".. this is the days we grow up in now. REAL awesome feeling. Had I known that.. there'd be no Bobby Clarke regular season Captain Ladder Climber. Claude Pavalski.. Auston Giroux. How's Ottawa G some things don't change. Got the record for being team captain for 10 plus years. No Stanley Cups and flip flops.. not for the feet. Playoffs. In one year.. out the next. Casual approach.. you know Cam Atkinson said it.. the Country Club feel. #IMissTorts #ThatWouldHaveBeenSomething #GWithTortsAsHisBenchBoss #IdPayToSeeThatOne #ImagineGGettingSatForAMistake #LolJakeyWouldveBeenPackingHisBags

  14. I played defense for a long damn time. Especially when you get past junior hockey, the neutral zone is your indicator to get off or not. The defenseman get blamed for the 2 on 1s not the situation that led to it.

  15. Prongs…. Textbook Canadian 🇨🇦

Classy, polite, intelligent, tough, respectful, honourable and professional.

    Topgun man #1

  16. Pronger was a rare player that was a captain in any locker room when he was playing, he could do everything extremely well, he was just one of those players where you would feel bigger than you are when he’s your teammate, he demanded excellence of himself and everyone around him, anything was possible when accountability was expected.
