  1. Slafkovsky with Suzuki and Caulfield was being used as a board battler. Would go in, dig out the puck and win it, passing it back to Lane Hutson, Hutson would find Suzuki who would find Caulfield. Slafkovsky would never get assists of those board battles. Its why his point totals were so low. Now its changing.

Unlike Suzuki who is the play driver of his line. Slafkovsky is the play driver for his line. That is a huge difference and its allowing him to constantly pick up points. I wouldn't be surprised if he hits 70 points this year and next year should only grow from there. He has been unlocked and not stuck on the Suzuki line. Slafkovsky is the play driver and play maker along with Ivan Demidov.

Suzuki and Caufield will just need to find another grinder to help them. Glad you picked up on what many in the Habs Fandom have realized.

  2. Slafkovsky is turning into a monster. People forget not every player is instantly a superstar.. Most aren't and need some development or just to grow up. Slaf was such a big wide eyed kid and now he maturing into man. The last 25 games or so show a possession beast and a controlled cockiness that's a joy to behold.. An "Are you not entertained" kind of swag that keeps putting smiles on my face. Because I'm entertained.

  3. Slaf has looked even better since moving to the line with Demidov and Kapanen he has a bigger role and has been carrying the puck and controlling the play much more

  4. I don't see Slafkovský doing 100+ points, I see him doin' in average around 80p. I do not think, that Montreal drafted him for being most productive player or whatever. They drafted him for his height, good mobility and icing abbility for his build. Where I see his biggest strength, could be the play-offs, I think he will have a biggest application there.

  5. He does so much to help his teammates get to the goals in the first place with his size and strength, and the whole line has just jelled with each player knowing what the other two are going to do and where they are going to be. This is the best second line in the NHL right now.

  6. 9:45 That BETTER be lUCK because if that's skill, the old FAKE then backhand pass off the backboards…. well then he's just playing with 'em,

  7. He is still likely the best guy in his draft year – how can that be disappointing? Montreal looks to have gotten the two best players in that draft: Slaf and Huston.

  8. Slaf is an absolute beast, but this video doesn't do him justice. He isn't just the F1 that will win board battles so that the more talented players can shine. That's the sort of stuff media that doesn't watch habs games will regurgitate over and over again. He IS that talented forward that makes others around him look better. In the last 30 games or so especially, the way he plays has made it pretty evident he is the next Mikko Rantanen.

  9. I mean sure, Slafkovsky might end up not being the best player of that draft, but the Habs got the best one anyways with Lane Hutson. Remember Slaf is driving a rookie line of Demidov and Kapanen into a dominant line, that alone is a feat.

  10. All people seem to care about these days is dangles and point totals and I hate it. If you're not the league leader in points with silky mitts, you're called a "bust", then people wonder why the game's getting soft. Byfuglien would have a field day in today's league

  11. Would have liked to see a stat of Slafkovský winning board battles and how he compares to others. Showing examples is good but how would I know if he does it better than other people even with his size?

  12. It was not a very deep draft… and unsure if we really labeled slaf a bust when this 21 year old progressed every year.

  13. I can’t recall anyone saying he was “a bust” he was young and still growing into his body. Every season he has grown and gotten better, more confidence, more skill and put on like 15 pounds. He’s now an integral part of the team and is still getting better. A bust…please stop it.

  14. power forwards always take a little longer moving up form juniors to AHL and then AHL to NHL (or juniors to NHL) because they have to adjust to the size difference in players. Things that worked when they were the biggest guy around and playing 16 year olds don't work against 20-30 year olds. If and when they adjust and figure it out things work out. Slaf took some time to adjust.

  15. He has never been a bust. He is a 21 year old with four seasons in the NHL under his belt. He gets maybe 26 goals 60 points this year. He's a good player just not great.

  16. Change the title he was never a bust. Only impatient morons ever thought he was a bust. People who don’t understand that not ever first overall comes into the league first year and scores a point per game. That’s rare. Big wingers like slaf almost always take a few years to figure it out. He did not transform from bust to good. He just followed normal progression

  17. He never was a bust…only for "fans" and "experts" in North America (remembering also Ayton – Doncic "experts" analysis)…The more I hear this kind of crap, the more I'm convinced that "fans" or "experts" in NA really don't know the game
