The Buffalo Sabres and Tampa Bay Lightning played one of the best hockey games we’ve seen played in a decade, and it certainly was the best one played at KeyBank Center. The Sabres crowd was electric from start to finish in an atmosphere that rivals the 2006 playoffs. It was loud from beginning to end. The game featured over 100 penalty minutes, most sparked by Tampa players going after Sabres players with dirty plays, especially attacking Rasmus Dahlin and Tage Thompson. The Sabres answered the bell defending their best players.
We also got crazy comebacks, from the Lightning’s three goal comeback in the 2nd period, to the Sabres two goal comeback in the 3rd to win the game. It was an incredible game from Josh Doan, Tage Thompson, Rasmus Dahlin, and plenty of other players. One difference in the game was Lindy Ruff getting his guys to play the game, while Jon Cooper could never get a handle on his.

Tampa is going to absolutely REGRET playing our boys that way come playoff time. I've been telling people for years now that Tampa is dirtier than Florida, they were always just better at hiding it. Legit SCUM. They tried bullying the boys into backing down because they can't beat them on skill alone. I want these guys in the postseason BAD now. 🦬⚔️

Sabres showed grit. Most teams to blow a big lead like that. And then to be down two, twice would phone it in. Especially against the caliber team like tampa.After winning six straight, you figured that would be your loss. This team showed zero, quit and kept sticking it to them. This team's not afraid to go toe to toe with anyone. We've beat the best teams in the league, minus colorado and carolina this year. And I honestly think either of those teams would be surprised facing us now. Hopefully we learn something from that game in the sloppy play in our zone. We let them into that game. We could have easily won 8-3 or 8-4. Regardless, the way we won show's a lot.
The Lightning can't skate with us and they know it so they resort to dirty play. We stood up to them and took their worst. Now it's time to get back to our skill game

I said it last night, when Tampa tied it, this is the situation I want buffalo to be able to grow and overcome. And oh boy did they. Epic fucking win. As much as I liked the win, the pushback for all the BS happening and responding to it was a bigger win. It showed me that the team is finally moved on from the 'Lucic hit era'.
Almost a day later and I am still trying to assimilate and register what went on in yesterday's game on so many levels.

It's been a LONG time. The reality is some of you guys may not remember guys like Razor, Brad May, Matthew Barnaby or a bunch of others being very not nice guys during the playoffs. For this team to even consider being a real Cup contender the stars need to start defending themselves, at least a little bit, and the guys who earn a check being a meatwagon need to be nastier. I appreciate that the Sabres pulled out the win, but this was a playoff level intensity and the Sabres need to start being the aggressor so they don't get pushed around once the tournament starts.

My first game at the Key Bank Center was all the way back in 1998 on January 15th!! Tops had 10 dollar ticket night, and I talked 3 of my friends into going, and what a game that was! 3 line brawls, Shields and Snow!!! I mean, it was chaos, and the Sabres won 6-2. Last night's game was just like it! Maybe not as intense, but really close! 227penility minutes!!!! 116 for the Canucks and 111 for the Sabres!!!

The Sabres could have won in another blowout like last week and it would have been great. But this was so much better. Having to pull together and fight back hard like that is what bonds a team.
