Oh… the Ducks are going for it?!

The Anaheim Ducks were busy at the NHL Trade Deadline, locking up Ryan Poehling to a four-year deal before acquiring veteran defenseman John Carlson from the Washington Capitals to bolster the blue line. In this video, we break down Pat Verbeek’s deadline moves, the impact Carlson could have on the Ducks’ power play and defense, and why Poehling might be the perfect long-term fourth-line center in Anaheim. We also discuss the surprising trade that sent Ryan Strome to the Calgary Flames, the ripple effects on the lineup, and how players like Jackson LaCombe, Pavel Mintyukov, Lukáš Dostál, and Mason McTavish fit into the playoff push. With the Western Conference wide open behind teams like the Colorado Avalanche, Dallas Stars, and Minnesota Wild, could the Ducks actually make some noise down the stretch? Full Anaheim Ducks trade deadline analysis, roster breakdown, and playoff outlook in this video. #nhl #anaheimducks #hockey #trade

  1. We weren’t going to be able to sign Zegras in the summer, but we definitely should’ve gotten more in return. Love Poehling though!

  2. Biggest need. #1rd. And we got a #1rd. We gave up a first and third. But this isn't a rebuilding first that we are used to, but a playoff late first rounder. Considering what other teams were giving up in trades. Probably a pretty fair trade.

  3. I kind of see the way the trades worked out with Philly, as essentially being Zegras for Gauthier, and that has worked out for us.

  4. Hopefully Carlson works out and he signs for a couple of seasons. On top of that, I liked Strome. He is a team player and worked hard, but getting his cap hit off the books will help with all the re-signing the team will be doing in the off season.

  5. I wanted Parayko/Blankenburg and Thomas/Kyrou, instead only Carlson (he is great just old and rental for now). I don't know, we are better now, but we could have been much better imo. So sorry for Strome (I love him) but it had to be done…we need cap space for the RFAs. Nice job with Poehling. 🙂

  6. if the pitch on that gooo Ducks was any indication of how much you are vibing right now that is good xD
I am glad Strome is gone. I am happy we got a good trade. I am happy we've got Poehling. I am happy we won yet again after a crazy game xD Wanted to get up at 4 AM and just miss the first period today just to get in the proper sleep, but GUESS WHO jumped off the cat tree right in front of my face at *3 AM SHARP*? My 15 pound balinois cat lmao. bro knew i had to see this and i turned on the game just as they were reviewing the first non-goal lmao. Whenever i get doubt the boys make me believe haha. Carlson will be good for us. Should not have given up 3 goals in less than 5 minutes.

  7. It's worth noting that in the Verbeek interview after first period he mentioned that eventually the now old RHDs will eventually turn to old LHDs. Maybe hinting that he has no plans to trade away any players from the young defence core.

  8. It makes sense but Moore being sent down would be a damn shame, he's been great. I'd much rather see Gudas scratched but that won't happen.

  9. Carlson is a great move, even if only one year, he'll add to the vets teaching the young blue liners. I hope though, that Carlson stays a few more.

  11. Think it's a very steep price if we don't extend him. If we do likely causes a new set of problems so we'll just have to wait and see
