The Edmonton Oilers picked up an important win over the Vegas Golden Knights to kickstart their pivotal four-game road trip on Sunday. TSN Director of Scouting Craig Button joins SC with Jay Onrait to break down the game and share which team he thinks has a better chance to go on a deep playoff run.

Aiden Hill hasn't done anything since that Cup. Nor has any other player on the team.
Meanwhile Ingram has shown signs that his game is coming together, and the Oilers still have Pickard to back him up since Jarry of late can't stop a suitcase.
In a best of seven I'll take the Oilers over any other team in the Pacific.
Beyond that, the Oilers have had Dallas' number in the playoffs, and when it comes to playoff success, they are the only Central team to have any since 2022.
Colorado has done nothing in the playoffs since they won the Cup in '22. Minnesota has managed to do even less. So Dallas would seem to be the reasonable favourite to come out of that division.
So if it's Dallas coming out of the Central against the Oilers, I'm liking that situation as much as you can any matchup with one of that division's "big three".

As a hockey fan who cheers for the Flames and is trying to be as objective as possible, I do not foresee the Oilers getting anywhere near the Stanley Cup finals this year. From what I've seen so far this season, the Oil will not get out of their division let alone the conference. Even if they manage to get by the Golden Knights, there's no way they get by the Avs. Not a snowflake's chance in Hell or Phoenix, AZ, which is about the same thing in the summer.
Pacific is pretty weak. #1 pacific = #4 in Central
