In a much-anticipated showdown, the top two teams in the NHL square off in Dallas tonight as the Dallas Stars host the Colorado Avalanche at American Airlines Center (7 p.m. CT). The Stars are on a franchise-record 10-game winning streak and are fresh off a two-game trip through Western Canada, where they demolished both the Vancouver Canucks and the Calgary Flames by identical 6-1 scores. The Avalanche went through a rough patch in early January, going 3-5-2 in a 10-game span after an incredible 31-2-7 record in their first 40 games. But the Avs have bounced back by winning five of their last six, including a current three-game winning streak. Both teams added players at the Trade Deadline and both are gearing up for what they each hope will be a long playoff run.
