Great move for my Ducks, even if it ends up a rental, this gives the group hope for a Push in the playoffs

As a Ducks fan I am completely blindsided by this move. Lets hope JC stays healthy. I'm going to assume he will be a rental and move on after this season. Hoping the Ducks make the playoffs but I honestly don't think they have grit to win a round yet. But their youth are getting better for sure.
Absolutely mind blowing. Even at his age Carlson was still by far the Caps # 1 defenseman. You can’t replace a # 1 defenseman, top 10 in the league for the last decade. The Caps will have over 30 million in cap space going into this offseason so they better be acquiring Quinn Hughes or a top 10 defenseman in the league plus an added high end top 6 forward this offseason if they plan to still contend.

Wow as a Dostal fan I'm glad to see he's getting a stronger defense corp with John Carlson now as his #1 RD, that stabilizes things greatly
This was a huge trade for the Ducks. They needed defense more than anything and Carlson fits the perfect archetype to lead this mixed young/vet core
As a Caps fan, I am pleasantly surprised. Anyone that knows the game and has watched him play will know what I mean when I say pleasantly. Thank you Carly for being a great player for the Caps and help bringing the Caps a Cup to Washington.
Unlikely and unpopular opinion but what if the Caps are selling and the Penguins try to make a move to have one playoff window where Crosby and Ovi play together…
Very good news for the Ducks! They need a legit RD and few are better than Carlson. He may be 36 but he is still very productive and worth what will hopefully be a very late first round pick!

Carlson had a talk with Caps mgmt and they said go enjoy a playoff run and we'll see you back here in the offseason. No way he's not going to re-sign and finish his career as a Cap. This is a smart move by the Caps front office
As a Duck diehard of course I'm happy to get Carlson and I love Beek showing confidence in the team but without a contract extention, not sure aquiring a 2 month rental superstar is quite were we're at just yet. We all have seen the Av's play right? lol.

A surprise to be sure but a welcome one! Shocking for CAPs fans, but as a Duck fan super excited to see this team get better on paper and hopefully they can have a fun playoffs! Not trying to set any expectations but hoping for the best! I still remember watching the 2018 season and knew going into the playoffs they didn’t have it and didn’t watch a single playoff game of theirs. I watched other teams. They lost 4 straight and I was like called it. When you watch a team for a whole season you have an idea how well they will preform in the playoffs. At least from my experience. I think hopes are high but when they suck, they are awful. They will have to comeback every playoff series for the most part. Always seems to let in the 1st goal. Hopefully a round 2 appearance but all depends who they play. But with this coach anything is possible tbh.

Ovi may or may not be retiring after this season (TBH I think it's a toss-up); This may be a stronger signal that the Caps are expecting Cole Hutson to make the jump from BU this/next month…
