When it comes to the pending unrestricted free agent status of defenseman Logan Stanley, there’s one thing that can’t happen in the conversation about trading him or signing him to a medium- or long-term contract: you can’t let him walk on July 1 for nothing.
Cam and Jim share their thoughts on what to do with Stanley. Is now the time to trade him while his stock may be higher than it will ever be? After investing all this time and patience into his development — and with Stanley now playing the best hockey of his NHL career — how do you justify moving on from him, especially if he wants to stay?
These are the tough questions Winnipeg Jets general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff is wrestling with, as Stanley confirmed to The Free Press’ Ken Wiebe that talks between his agent and the Jets are underway. If a first-round pick is offered, do you pull the trigger?
The Jets were also able to pull victory from the jaws of defeat Tuesday against the Chicago Blackhawks, with Cole Perfetti scoring late to force overtime before Mark Scheifele ended it with a walk-off winner. The frustration, though, is this: why did it take staring down a likely season-ending loss for the Jets to finally pull it together, play their system, and dominate their opponent? What gives?
All that and more on today’s edition of Jets at Noon.

Yeah Tyler Myers was had sorry. No movement clause for this year next year. I think it's limited so Vancouver could have waited to trade him next year but they want to you know get the pics this year or at least you know him off the books and traded. And remember Myers was born in Texas in Houston and I guess raised in Calgary. So if he wanted to go anywhere was definitely Texas. Even though Detroit had a standing offer he wanted to go back to his birth roots
Come on chevy make the big trades
if they play like this with TB in town, itll be season ending they will lose , and carry that into the Vancouver game and hopefully win the its Anahiem who we havent beaten yet and now its goiong to be 2-8 at best in the next 10 when need all 10 to do anything this home stretch is critical to hopwfully make ground and half assed play, losing a lead in the 3rd, or winning till the last 2 mins is not going to cut it
With this Management under they will never win a Championship here.drafting is Key Myers deal was asking too much
I can’t stand players under contract telling you where he wants team he plays for what a joke
Sign Stanley, he's the only one that fights besides Lowery..
Cole Koepke SUCKS!!!
Wow
We are spending time on trading a legitimate asset like Logan Stanley and nobody wants to talk firing Scott Arniel.
Because this team has quit on this coach
Does Jim share endorsement deals with Scott Arniel or something?
I think it will cost more he's 27 not 36 Stanley is a better player at this point in his career. And Myers had a no move could choose if he left and where to.
The minimum I'd take Stanley is a 2nd plus a prospect or a 3rd
It be great if we could get a 1st.
For other jets get what you can a 5th/6th AHL guy with potential for Miller,Heinola,Koepke,Nyquist,Pearson.
I think you could get a 3rd or 4th got Namestnikov or Neidereitter even if hurt they have another year on deals.
Note the picks don't have to be for 2025-26 season the 1st could be a 2026-27 and like you said could use at draft or in summer/next year. That goes for everyone it's still a valuable asset. Plus if you look at late round picks this year they been traded last year.
There are dmen out there UFA like Gudas,Bogosian,Hamonic,Forbort,Soucy,Gudbranson if you move on from Schenn/Stanley next year for toughness.
Or forwards like Deslauriers,Laughton,Reaves even as 13th/14th fwds I don't think we need toughness in today's game but they did and you mentioned we would look for same thing note even a Reaves or Deslauriers can hit fight/wear defences out maybe against skilled teams you pull them out. And Laughton is similar to Lowry can be a good 3rd liner. We haven't really had a enforcer since Thorburn it would take pressure off Lowry always having to answer the call.
Jim Toth says he isn't a fan of the Jets yet he strongly defends the GM and Coach ? Our HC hasn't proved anything other than in his first year the Bowness effect carryover. Arniel hasn't is too Negative for my liking. And our GM what has he ever done to keep his job this long ?
If the jets would have gotten the extra point in OT this season, it would be a diff situation. Jets used to be good in OT
