I say trade Kiefer Sherwood
depends on what teams are willing to give. picks, no(unless a 1st). young-mid aged RHD that are NHL ready, yes
Sherwood’s desired new contract amount was no mystery to anyone – why trade for him if you’re not interested in paying that??? Now Mike looks at best, out of touch, at worst, cruel. The guy’s wife is about to give birth, it’s his one chance for a big contract – why would you bring him here if you weren’t serious about signing him? Doesn’t just hurt this one player, it hurts the Sharks’ reputation. That’s a turnoff for future free agents. MG’s been so smart in rebuilding the team and farm system, what a blind spot.
Maybe you can flip Sherwood and one of the D-men for a late 1st like last year. Regardless they need to make room for Igor to come back up.
Not doing Sherwood any favors playing him on the first line. He's out of his game trying to keep up with the thoroughbreds Celebrini and Smith. He's better off on the second or third line where he can floor check and hit and score off his disruptions. Sherwood – Wennberg – Toffoli for some grit and skill on the third would rake.
My hope is wGrier doesn’t do a Doug Wilson with Sherwood
Everything about this trade feels so awkward. The timing, the looming contract extension, the fit.
I really would have preferred those two seconds to be packaged with something else to get us a defensemen.
Like did we really need a 30 year old guy who’s a third liner at best having a once in a career season?
I will defend GMMG 7 days a week but this was not a good move and I’m really hoping he just takes the L and flips him. Giving this guy the type of contract he wants will age terribly.
This is the wrong lesson to take from this video, but best case scenario where we get both Hamilton and Schneider, move off of Kurashev and Ferraro, and recall Chernyshov to have the following lines would have me personally building a statue of Grier the next day.
Chernyshov – Celebrini – Smith
Eklund – Misa – Sherwood/Graf
Toffoli – Wennberg – Sherwood/Graf
Goodrow – Ostapchuck – Regenda
Orlov – Hamilton
Mukhamadullin – Schneider
Dickinson – Desharnais
I'm all for keeping sherwood at like 5-6 aav, but here's my pie in the sky trade partner/package involving Sherwood.
Sabres receive:
Kiefer Sherwood
Quinten Musty
Sharks receive:
Radim Mtrka
30 million can get the fuck outta here and kick rocks, bud. Who do you think you are, or what you are owed by whom?
I don’t think MG moves Sherwood… I wasn’t a fan of this move, particularly giving up this year‘s second rounder When. Many people are saying this draft has some depth.
For what we got in Sherwood Cherny is younger has more skill and fits better on the team in the top six
What about Whitecloud? I feel like he’s the best option for the Sharks to go after. I’d try to trade Sherwood Kurashev Ferraro and Liljgren and try to go after Whitecloud Byram Schneider and or Fox with any assets obtain from trading these players even if it has to wait for the offseason I rather Grier wait and do nothing till than if it means it’ll help the defense get fixed. We don’t want to become the next Edmonton where the offense brings the team to playoffs but the defense causes each playoff round to be a failure
