    Start by playing more physically Morgan. Protect your goalies and control the puck in your own end. The reason nobody’s quitting now is because you all quit weeks ago.

    The fact Berube keeps pumping him out there as the #1 D is wild. DEMOTE him to the 3rd give him easier match ups he’s offensive not defensive like man it’s the definition of insanity doing the same thing over and over

    Here's my take on why the Leafs have failed this year:
    1. They did not (probably never could) replace Marner's offence (100 points), his defence (zone awareness and PK), and chemistry on the top line.
    2. The power play has been abysmal for 3 years for a very simple reason that NO ONE apparently sees… John Tavares is slow, constantly coughs up and is easily moved off the puck, loses puck battles, cannot make quick decisions when needed, and is horrible defensively. These facts are demoralizing to the top PP unit who constantly have to work overtime and exert extra energy having to clean up after his constant gaffes! MOVE Tavares off the PP (replace him with either Domi or Robertson) and the PP will greatly improve!
    3. Tavares should NEVER have been re-signed. And please don't quote meaningless statistics that he still gets goals/points. Anyone with a clear understanding of the game will realize that most of his points are either setup by others on the PP or are just fluky tips or empty net goals. His skill has been deteriorating fast. It's clear that since his concussion versus the Habs, that he has never been the same player. That $4.5M should have been used to sign a young middle 6 forward.
    4. It's clear that Rielly is a defensive liability who management (coaching staff) have never been able to teach him how to improve. That sad fact is both Rielly's as well as management's fault. Rielly needs a change of scenery to Vancouver for anyone the Canucks can send back.
    5. It's clear to me that Berube is an unintelligent coach that almost every single one of these Leaf players have given up on. Berube has no plan in place for non-grinding, skilled players and his request to get Treliving to acquire players to "suit" his coaching style (Roy, Joshua) has utterly failed. Berube should and must be moved immediately. Berube asked that Holmberg be moved and he has played exceptionally well under Jon Cooper in Tampa Bay.
    6. Missing Tanev on the blueline has been very destabilizing. His lack of presence and leadership have resulted in a defensive unit that is completely lost.
    7. The Red Wings, Canadiens, and Sabres have all greatly improved (Sabres mostly due to an intelligent coach with vision).

    If they can move on from both Tavares and Rielly and use that enormous $12.5M salary to sign a top 3 forward, they might be able to salvage next season.
