Bruins Trade Deadline Targets + Post-Break Win

Bruins Trade Deadline Targets + Post-Break Win

The Boston Bruins are back from the Olympic break and extend their home winning streak to 10 games, beating the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-2 last night. The trade deadline is a week away, and Don Sweeney says the Bruins will be buyers and sellers.

Brett Howard from Only Bruins Podcast joins me to discuss all of this and much more on the latest episode of Bruins Diehards.

  1. B's at home 22-8-1 (69.3% points percentage). B’s on the road 11-12-4 (48.1% points percentage).

Two different teams, seemingly. Lots of road games coming up, including a three-games-in-four-days at Montreal, New Jersey, and Washington.

  2. Arvidsson and Peeke should definitely be marketed by Sweeney.

Realize right shot Dman is the consensus, I'd much rather have a younger winger with some ceiling.

  3. Didn't know you were Canadian. Always nice to meet fellow Bruins fans from Canada. so hard to live in the Toronto filled fan base being a B's fan.

  4. I don’t think it’s a good idea to speculate on Swayman’s quotes in media scrums. He’s more unfiltered and less restrained than most hockey players, especially goaltenders, who tend to be eccentric and/or non-forthcoming. At age 27, he’s only had a couple years with fully matured frontal lobes. He’s single, wealthy, and now more than ever before, famous. He’s going to say some questionable things sometimes. Unless he states something egregiously bad, I would probably mostly ignore his interviews’ content.

  5. Sturm's comments about players not prepared, i.e Swayman after Olympics is telling. Players going to the white house was nonsensical when they had games to play in a day for a media event to eat McDonald's and get on Fox news

  6. I can see Boeser getting moved in the offseason. Not sure Vancouver will be motivated to trade him right now, despite how poorly this Canucks season is going. For teams looking to acquire Boeser, having next season’s (higher) cap limit (instead of the current season’s cap) will allow more suitors to bid.

  7. Great conversation! I think the priority should be a RHD and Poitras and Lohrei can get you that. I would take Parayko over Fox. I still remember Poitras in that Rangers game last February outmaneuvering Fox 2x to set up goals for Pasta. Murphy in Chicago would be a great fit too and seems to be flying under the radar as well. I do wonder if Monty is back with STL next year. Agree that it's definitely a hockey trade if the Bruins make it work with STL. I still think the Bruins in the end will regret trading Poitras, but I'm happy he will move to a team that will immediately put him on their roster and play him. However, not sure how I feel about Poitras and Lohrei being reunited with Monty. Yes, Monty liked them and they fit his system, but I don't feel that he handled Poitras well. He was benched if he made one mistake, his line mates were constantly being changed – so no time to develop chemistry and he was given limited playing time due to his age. Feel like Poitras needs a coach similar to Sturm that is actually good at dealing with younger players. Regardless, I'm excited to see what the Bruins do and how this all plays out over the next week!

  8. USA hockey team has won gold for the first time in 46 years – OF COURSE YOU GO TO THE WHITE HOUSE!!!!!!! If the team allowed it, you definitely go.

  9. It's tough to predict who's staying and going because they have not had an off-season to train for this new coach or system yet. December 2026 will be my next milestone marker for this "retool"
Offseason training can change their game.
We're seeing that with Matt Poitrais, Mason Lorhei. Interesting how I didn't hear their names come up for trade during this video?

Weager & Brock in our trade rumors yet again!?
    Lol!

No way is DeBrusk coming back to Boston.
    But Charlie coyle's a 35-year-old UFA 😁
He clearly did not want to fight Boston last night! If there's a role in Boston? would love to have Charlie back.

I challenge Bruins fans to come up with a Sweeney trade they predicted. They can't. Aside from maybe Taylor Hall
One Boston reporter picked up on Hampus at a Red Sox game with bruins staff the summer prior to the trade.
During his initial interview, Hampus confirmed, the decision was a no-brainer, could've gotten more money elsewhere, knew he was coming to Boston a year and a half before his Ducks contract was up.
So I just shuddup until trade time because Sweeney has all kinds of things going on.

Once a deal gets leaked? It's not going to happen. they use Elliott Friedman for that lol!

great assessment of arvidson. Never phones it in, that empty netter was earned.

    Good for DePietro!
korpisalo is playing for his hockey career right now – expect Joonas to be 🔥
counting on it to get us that wild card spot.

    Nice collage!
Yeah keep that geekie jersey up on the wall!

Don't be down too long, Team Canada is awesome. 🇨🇦 Those are our favorite players also.
But you've got a whole wall of gold medals!
    We don't!

    And in 4 years?
    Payback's going to be…
    Banana pants!

And we'll be watching 2026 and miracle on Ice highlights to console ourselves!

    Great podcast guys

I get two videos on my day off! 👍

  10. Oh come on Court, admit it. Getting DeBrusk back would be like xmas and your birthday all rolled into one. 🤣

  11. Peake has played great the first part of the year however he has been slipping the last 10 games before the Olympics.

  12. I would not trade Victor Arvidsson, he can score and the B's need scoring now if they want to make the playoffs. I just think he fit's this team. I would sign him if they can reach a deal.
