    The rumor was the next 3 games would determine if the leafs were selling……that game should have been the one. It is obvious they need to retool.

    Bolts fan here. Watched the game. Leafs seemed to be low energy for much of the game. Tampa's 3rd and 4th line is basically a good AHL team and they still outworked the Leafs.

    Also most bubble teams are doing that “we are taking the next few games to identify if we want to sell.” Shit the Panthers would be better off tanking but instead all but 2 of our players are going to be back in the next week.

    Honestly, though, the Maple leafs are in about the worst position they could be in. I don’t think they’re bottom five NHL bad, they’re probably six through 10 bad, but being six through 10 means you lose your first round pick in the Carlo trade. I don’t think tanking completely works for them this year. At the same time, they’re terrible and they need to load up on assets. It’s really rough that trade they made last year, but they’re gonna have to figure out a way around it, and maybe try to recoup some mid-level pics for their very mid players that they’ll be trading. If they trade any at all. And right now, do you trust any of these people to make a successful trade with anybody?

    Well… Considering the Leafs were a single point behind the Oilers during the Olympic break, yes, it is a demonstrable fact that if the Leafs were in a different division or the West especially they would be in a MU?CH better position with their exact same record.
    The Leafs have NOT played well this year, they 100% deserve to be pooped on, but being willfully ignorant of reality just kind of makes you look silly.
