Let me rephrase the question at the 4ish mark — Isn't it a bit hypocritical to say you and the team aren't political and then join Trump for his State of the Union Address. I love hockey players, but they aren't the most intelligent bunch. Also, while Jack and his buddies were trying to squash any beef between the men's and women's teams, he doesn't acknowledge the president's misogynistic comment towards the women's team. Instead, he's out here trying to "squash the rumors that there's beef between the two teams." He missed the point completely.
So conflicting. Favorite player for years. 30+ year Devils fan. So proud and ecstatic for him when he scored that goal. The team got caught up in a moment that I can give them the benefit of the doubt on, and say they probably didn't realize they were laughing at a misogynistic joke at their colleagues' expense. But Jack has had days to say literally anything other than "don't make it political" and now "it is what it is", when the leader of his country disparages fellow members of the "USA Hockey Brotherhood", and he can't even put in two sentences to speak against it and actually stick up for them. Take a little time for self-reflection Jack. The bar is astoundingly low here, but somehow you keep sliding under it. I don't care much about your politics, I care about manchild behavior that can't apologize or take ownership for anything.
Absolute class. I hope that none of the negativity gets to him and he knows he’s a national hero. People will always find something to be bitter about.
