I thought Sammy G was making progress especially offensively but at the end of the day he still just isn't the caliber player that we need for playoffs imo. It's still a business and our cup window is RIGHT NOW. I think this was a good move and one that I was predicting. Hope Sammy keeps elevating his game in Pittsburgh
sam girard was actually our best player on the ice that night against dallas. Sure the puck came off his skate when raitenan scored but the entire team was to blame on that breakdown. Losing Girard is a tremendous mistake unless they can get another good player. Kulak made the terrible mistake in game 7 against the panthers when he went to the right and double covered a guy while reinhardt scored the stanley cup winning goal with a wide open shot
I liked Sam but he was going to be moved at the trade deadline. Sam needed a change and so did the Avs. Ever since he was injured in 2022 he hasn't been the same. As soon as they gave Malinski an extension I knew Girard was on his way out. March 16 when the Penguins come to play the Avs will be a fun game.
I love sam and am thankful for what he brought, but yeah, we didn't win the cup with him on the ice and I won't forget the Vegas series loss nor did the AVS.
NO. Girard’s been a blatant nuisance to this team, thank God “Sammy g” is finally GONE.. We’re over here cheerin for it.. Him Knockin the puck into his own damn net last year is half the reason we lost to Dallas. We all know what/who the other half was..

But why? Has anyone explained why they traded G?
He's not good offensively, and he's not good defensively, he should've been traded years ago.
Sucks

The only time Sam Girard has seen the 3rd round is on tv.
This will not change.
Got to be some cap clearing move for another trade plus they owed dubas some favour after Kadri trade. That was a total lopsided trade.

The Duchene trade is still paying off. Crazy to think about
Love Sammy G and plays with so much heart. Odd man out and looking for something different. Go get it in Pittsburgh.
Even your first pick? 🐾
Payed a high price for kulak but maybe works out? Hopefully also have more money to trade for 2 good players now
Got rid of a 5.4m contract for a guy who constantly coughed up the puck for scores and let the opposition blow by him on the back check. Good trade.

Man I love Bednar as a head coach !!!
Jared Bednar the best coach of the team since 1995
