I cant imagine the flak Bouchard would take with an ill advised pinch that led to a 3 on 1 in overtime with a forward back, and then be beaten back to the d zone by the other forward like Makar just did.
I’m a Bouchard supporter. I was very vocal when he was left off this roster. Especially after the performance that he put in during the 2025 playoffs. It felt wrong to not have them at the Olympics. I think it’s about time that Edmonton fans and the rest of the NHL to start acknowledging Evan Bouchard for the superstar defenceman he is. And y’all need to realize that the good very much outweighs the bad with a player like him.
Bouchard isn’t even close to those other players. Sure he gets points but he’s also on the ice for most of the goals against. Definitely not worth what they are paying him and definitely wasn’t good enough for the Olympic team.
I can fully admit that these were my exact thoughts as I watched the tournament. I felt Bouchard more than belonged on the team when originally I was skeptical. Probably would have played his way into top minutes.
