The New York Rangers have traded Artemi Panarin to the Los Angeles Kings in a deal that is surprising for several reasons. In exchange for Panarin, who immediately signed an extension with the Kings, the Rangers get prospect Liam Greentree and two conditional draft picks. We discuss the deal and why it was so surprising.

now react to the mckenna news ๐ฌ
This is a weird deal….maybe hes going to be planting trees with Khawai Leonard ๐
Kings won the trade.
As a Russian whoโs been following Panarin for over a decade, I think it truly is just the allure of LA. They are currently a decent team, which is a bonus, but I think he just wanted to experience Hollywood and the ocean๐ ๐ผ
Rangers love Socal, just look at the Ducks roster ๐
Ya I love my kings talk we need sum love ๐ go kings go pararin better deliver
Ya bean forgot your bruins it's my kings time ๐
As a Bruins fan, glad he's out west. Seems like every time he played the Bruins he score at least a goal and was a complete menace on ice.
Itโs absolutely a great place for him. Iโm just glad he didnโt end up with the Carolina hurricanes. Cheers!
The Kings had a good off season? The wanna be scrawny Logan Paul hair guy hasn't a clue. Look at the standings, bud. The stats. JC.
Sucks. i was really hoping Panthers
Holland has done a really good job with his forward additions, but his defensive additions were horrendous Cody Ceci is one of the worst defenseman that I've ever witnessed he's big but doesn't hit at all, or win puck battles, and has absolutely no idea what to do when he gets the puck lol
Wait til he disappears in the playoffs and watch him suffer keeping up on defense. Enjoy
Its a second round pick if they win 2 rounds, not one round.
I thought breadman wanted the Cup. It appears he wants just money ๐๐๐๐
After Columbus , Panarin only cares about big city life in New York and LA, it was the same thing when NYR signed Panarin as a UFA.
Perrry isn't the Kings best forward. Perry is making an impact by filling in any roll the Kings need when he's on the ice.
He isn't doing anything extraordinary. He is just doing.
And i hated the guy when we signed him.
You guys should consider what is in it for Panarin when considering where he could go.
Here's some food for thought.
The Kings are the 4rth best defensive team in the entire league. They have some of thee best goaltending in the league.
They are only 4 points out of first place in the Pacific.
If you added a little scoring with this grouup. That group could be extremely dangerous.
Win the division, get home ice in the opening round, and make a serious run.
Why did the Rangers want to get rid of Panarin? Was he refusing to re-sign or did they want the cap space?
I dont think the Kings even make the playoffs this season, let alone WIN a round of the playoffs. Seattle, Anaheim, and San Jose all seem to be more likely to get 3rd and wildcard spots ahead of LA.
Man I wish I could be as delusional as Ken Holland to think I'm just one 34 year old piece away from contending
Panarin seems like a weird (maybe bad) guy
Everyone outside of LA talks about Byfield. Guysโฆheโs not that great. Heโs like a race horse, yes. But his hockey sense is 4th line checking level. And he replaced his scoring hands with rocks last summer. Heโs overrated and I hope Holland trades him for a legit C before his value drops to negative.
BREADMAN STuck it to Drury for his bully tactics and not willing to renegotiate just a meeting to say bye byeso good job Artemi take the Kings to Playoffs brassei
Opening the door for Robertson the elite goal scorer that can finish going into his prime huge big size body unlike these 5'10' little guys.
Great Video. This trade sucks.
I think that Chris Drury should concentrate only on being The President of The Rangers & he should relinquish GM Duties to another.
Even though Chris Drury was in A No-Win Situation, due to The NMC given to Artemi Panarin by John Davidson/Jeff Gorton Administration, Chris Drury did this to himself, by telegraphing that they weren't going to sign Artemi Panarin & The Letter. Let me know what you think
If you look at it as better than losing Artemi Panarin for not a single thing in return, it's A Win. LOL
At least The Edmonton Oilers got Jimmy Carson & others from The LA Kings for Wayne Gretzky. The fact they (The Rangers) didn't get A Roster Player really makes this such A Bad Trade, except losing him (Artemi Panarin) for nothing. Let me know what you think
I don't know why anyone would want to move to Los Angeles
Fire drury
I'd like to hear you justify, "Ceci rocks!". i don't hate him like so many do, but that still sounds like an overstatement.
GTree will be NY's Dustin Brown..He will be captain 1 day & play 15-17 years of hard nose tough player leadership ..Im not happy flash for toughness NEVER FLIES!
Before you call the Kings winners in this remember something. Artemis is a great regular season player but when the post season rolls around and you're playing the best he's invisible. No goals, no assists and gets muscled off the puck every play so there's no puck carrying.
I've been a rangers fan since the 60's. Drury has no idea what he is doing. Are only offensive he trades away. Why doesn't he get more grit plAyers like the Florida teams. The last few years we are the pussies of the league. Thank you Dreary. We won't win another cup for another 50 years you don't deserve the gm job.
fire power, star power, and credible SA allegations. ๐ฅด
Kopi is leaving the Kings as their #1 center. Byfield is a hard worker, but not a #1 center yet. Pana taking 2 years x @11 was a way to keep his options open, and maybe setup as the Kings top line if things work out. Also, Kings are #1 in OT games (most lost in shootouts). Think Pana might affect that stat?
At least Drury got some magic beans out of the deal
Bottom line is, even though John Davidson & Jeff Gorton put Chris Drury in a situation to begin with, Chris Drury hasn't been good at trades, but for a few times that he had gotten good players as Rentals Only that he didn't sign (Vatrano & others). Therefore, Chris Drury has to accept the fact that he hasn't done well, from The Pavel Buchnievich Trade on. If you want to look at it that he's gotten An OK Prospect As It Being Better Than Losing Him (Artemi Panarin) For Nothing, I guess that you could look at it as A Win, but I don't see it that way.
The JT Miller trade was an OK deal for Chris Drury, but, it was against Vancouver & then to trade Chris Kreider was stupid. Therefore, I think Chris Drury's got to concentrate on being The President & Turn Over The GM Duties To Someone Else. Let me know what you think
It's actually A Square Peg In A Round Hole, not A Triangle. It might be that Chris Drury can't even get that right? LOL
The rangers suck and go my islanders ๐๐งก
