It's getting like the NBA – six 1st round picks for an aging bloated contract.
The best trades are the one's you never seen coming, usually low end names that become something. Like Heineman (a throw in). The ability to steal a player, get them when their stock is low and believe in your staff and what you seen that the other team missed – then your staff develops the player unlike what the other team could not accomplish. To go get Kyrou at this point would mean paying high for a guy (who in the end probably not worth the asking cost), and you have to believe your team is cup contending worthy – last year I said a few times on social "go grab McMann from the Leafs, he would make a great high level 3rd liner" and look at him this year, now the Leafs want multiple firsts for him, last year they didn't value him. Another Leafs name I bandied, (Minten) who the Leafs seen no value in, and sent him to Boston for Carlo and a first. We could have offered Romanov for that package. The Bruins stole that trade!
Would rather take a chance on not giving up much for laine
It means stay the course and stand pat without subtracting for the future. Kyrou/Stamkos/Laine isn't helping to win a cup.
Technically, water isn’t really wet. But I’m not mortgaging the future for this season.
Don’t give up any Quality Stay in place and let the season and playoffs pan out we have a franchise goalie that’s it We’re not giving up money and players for old aged out expensive contracts, Lee , Palmari, JGP and others get what we can while they’re still valuable 🧡LGI💙
I don't see Kyrou as being the guy for this team and not for a huge price
I'll address this comment to Matt because, unfortunately, Mitch always gives the impression that the blue and orange glasses are permanently Krazy Glued to his head, rendering him incapable of seeing transactions objectively. Robert Thomas and Jordan Kyrou are both very good but not elite forwards in their prime(26, 27) and they are both signed to reasonable contracts that extend 4 years after this season ends. That makes them valuable in a strong deadline market, this year's deadline market by all accounts will be very weak, which makes those two even more valuable. The people who are pointing out that Armstrong is not under any pressure whatsoever to move either or both are in fact correct. The suggestion that either players value will diminish the longer it takes a deal to finalize is, of course, ridiculous, these are players other gm's would love to add not last year's model pickup truck sitting on a dealers lot. Lastly, I believe that where the Islanders are concerned this whole conversation is moot, the Islanders do not currently possess the assets necessary to even have this conversation with Armstrong, both of their draft picks are going to be mid to late first round, the prospect pool isn't exactly exciting outside of Schaefer and the KHL goalie who is signed up for two more seasons.😊
Jeff Skinner is about to be up for grabs. For league minimum, why not 🤷🏻♂️
If we can get kyrou or liane for a bargain deal do it.
Panarin went for peanuts.
Do you think we could unload Mayfield to them somehow in one of those trades? He is from St Louis and might waive his no movement for hometown. Fingers crossed?!
The Blues have a solid young core with the following Dvorsky, Snuggerud, Jiricek, Otto Stenberg (Ivar Stenbergs Brother), Carbonneau, Mailloux, Harenstam, Lindstein, Holloway, Hofer, Neighbours, Broberg
Do not, under any circumstances, move any of our prospects or draft picks. We're in desperate need of a rebuild. Why would Darche foolishly move either of our two first round picks in this summer's 2026 NHL draft? If anything, we should be sellers and try to pick up, at the very least, another first round pick in a trade for JG Pageau. This team is not built for a deep playoff run, and as such, we should be preparing for the 2026 draft. We should be giving Ritchie more ice time, and if we move Pageau, he should obviously be moved up to third line center. I'd like to see CR on the third line with Shabanov. Two grinders.
I'm NOT trading our best Prospects, I don't even want to trade either of our 1st round picks! I'll ONLY make moves right before/during the draft. We'll have an idea of how much cap space we have, which teams are wanting to move picks/players for rebuilding or win now mode, better idea of who's going to be available as a free agent, etcetera. I think trying to go for it NOW when this team always seems shaky, even when we win shows me that we're not at that point just yet. and making the wrong move could be severely costly mistakenly extending years to this thing. Need to be patient. The time to add big pieces for years of cup contention is when losses are no longer predictable…I mean guaranteed. We all know what type of losses I'm talking about.
Typical elitest east coast teams talk. Do I think Blues getting everything what they want, no. In saying that, however, I think Thomas and Kyrou are worth 3 picks regardless of draft or prospectsl
