The Greatest World Club Challenge Match in Rugby League History?

The Greatest World Club Challenge Match in Rugby League History?

Watch extended highlights of one of the greatest World Club Challenge clashes in the competitions history – Wigan travelled to Brisbane to challenge raigning NSWRL champions Brisbane Broncos.

The 2 sides were the dominant clubs of each hemisphere during this period and the Warriors were looking for revenge after their loss to the Broncos in the 1992 encounter.

In front of nearly 55,000 at the ANZ Stadium, a Wayne Bennett coached Broncos were led by captain Allan Langer and stacked with stars like Wendell Sailor, Steve Renouf, Kevin Walters, and more.

Wigan had stars in Shaun Edwards in the halfs, and the lightening duo of Jason Robinson and Martin Offiah on the wings, Gary Connolly at full-back and a young Andy Farrell in the back-row.

  1. I bet those guys are still battered and bruised even today, absolute warriors all of them!
Imagine half of those contacts in todays game, constant yellow cards, video refereeing, players on report and the game totally sanitised

  2. Great match, the 2 giant clubs of their corresponding competitions. 1994 was peak Rugby League worldwide.

  3. Love Chariots’ reaction to Mather’s first try

Goes from hands out “you greedy bastard” to hugs and “Get In” once he gets past Big Dell
