i am sure NYR will do a great job developing this young forward. it is one of their strengths.
great trade❤
signed: NJD fan
Disappointing return as a Rangers fan but unfortunately with Panarin's NMC it really hurt his trade value.
Panarin seems to have a thing for high taxes and large cities circling the drain.
Rangers Fans be happy with this trade ! How many playoff wins with this Player??? Time to get rid of these players who just show up when they want
I’m happy with the return STL got considering how poor points wise Bjugstad has been, plus he’s been injured a bit. 4th round pick always has an outside shot to turn into a good player (Blues especially seem to have a knack for finding late round talent)
Oh my god I’m gonna lose it
After Kopitar retires then Kings will be, well bad
I don't buy the 'Drury's hands were tied' argument. We're still weeks away from the deadline – there was no reason this had to be done today. If you waited it would give you more time to talk and explore all options. Not only that but it never got out to the press that LA was the only team that he wanted so LA would have had no idea unless Drury told them.
He wants to go to LA and retire in California
I also don’t really feel like this is going to make the Kings a legit contender though so I don’t get the move for Panarin. Could have gone to a legit top contender as a rental and then signed with LA in the offseason. Seems like this is a “hero” move but I feel like it won’t end up in anything special playoff wise for LA.
Rags are a joke
If this is the return, why not just wait it out until after the Olympics to see if Panarin or the Kings blink? Maybe Panarin reassesses and opens himself to other teams. Maybe the Kings see this and up their offer. Rangers created an arbitrary deadline and forced themselves into a bad deal.
Nothing really to say about the trade in itself…
Panarin got what he wanted, a warmer environment come whining down his career…good pay and still the potential for fun play if the team plays well…
And the Rangers organization got a young talent back…the best they could hope for in a situation they didnt really control anymore…
But, and a big BUT(!)…this has been long coming, and should of been handled better with a better return much earlier.
Just a couple of years ago the Rangers hade a solid team, a real cup contender…with a solid core of young talent for the future.
It was f-ing exciting watching them play…
Now its just….nothing…
F Drury!
Meh. If the player has a full NMC, and says "I'm literally only willing to go to one team" then you are kinda stuck just taking whatever they offer you. I'll hate on Drury for other things, but not so much this return
NYR didn`t even get enough return to justify the 5,8m cap retained.
Idk if you have to make that deal at all. It shows how much power full NTCs give the players.
And what was said – only contender, low tax state, 50m extension – then Panarin goes to LA in Cali, not even in at the moment, and extends for 22m.
Lol, experts.
This AWFUL return is 100% because Panarin said this was the only team he’d waive his NTC for. The Rangers were making this trade not just with handcuffs on, but with cements boots and a noose around the neck.
wtf how did the ducks fumble this.. well id rather have nylander tbh
as a flyers fan, you love to see it
As an LA Kings fan I’m ecstatic, I liked Greentree but I did’t think he would be much more than a 2nd liner anyway. To me it feels like the Kings never make these blockbuster moves and are usually just boring, so the fact that we got the best guy on the market is awesome to me. I wanted the Kings to rebuild because I didn’t think we were competitive enough to move far in the playoffs anytime soon, and therefore didn’t feel like the Kings should have traded for Panarin, but since this is all we had to give up, I think this an incredible move.
>prospect develop well in the Rangers organization
Lol. Lmao even. Fuckin rip Liam Greentree's career
4:17 you did not just say that lol
Gotta disagree with you on this one brother. Bread man is a star sure but i disagree that the rangers got nothing. Ive had the chance to watch Liam Greentree for a few years now and he can be a hell of a player. I don't think LA will make the best of this, and i think Greentree will be a solid player for the rangers future
During his tenure as GM, Drury has managed to destroy what was once a very promising team.
It’s Drury is clueless as how to run a team. yeah I know he was in a position cause Bread held all the cards but he was fleeced and just looking at every single move Drury has made since GM it’s clear that he has no clue.
lol this trade is so bad…….id feel guilty if I was the Kings GM.
Great video, Kings fan here, they owe it to Kopitar, you nailed it. Kings aren't full cup contenders but it's not time to rebuilt yet. They haven't won a round since winning their 2nd cup 12 years ago. I just want to see Kopi and Doughty go on one more run and win A round. Greentree looked like he could be a real nice power forward but we'll see how the rangers do developing another 1st round pick. I love this deal for LA. They can still rebuild in 3 years if needed.
GKG
Another first round exit
Chris Drury was in a tough spot because he put himself in a tough spot. He needs to go. Incompetent moron.
bag of pucks… sad
Now we trade ceci and some picks for Petterson to fill our future center hole
Didn't CHI get a shitty return for P.Kane back in '24 as well?
As a Rangers fan I can say his points are fraudulent…he had one big year of 120 points but when he was needed in the playoffs to take over games like McDavid Makar Mackinnon Celebrini and Kucherov do on a regular basis he didnt do it…Hes not the savior the Kings fans may be hoping he is…he had plenty of chances in NY and failed…
NHL is rigged and here is one of the evidence.
Next will be the place McKenna will land.
yeah well its good for the kings but idk a 34 years old forward are they not just idk pushing the inevitable they will have to renuild i dont like this for either team!
Not only can players force their team to trade them to one specific team with NMC, they're encouraged to do so in order for their new team to have gotten a better deal whereas it doesn't matter to them what their old team gets back (in most cases). Kings will still lose to the Oilers in round 1, though.
Did he sign an extension
Opening the door for Robertson the elite goal scorer that can finish going into his prime huge big size body unlike these 5'10' little guys.
regardless the circumstances, the Rangers got fleeced Panarin isn't some washed up has been, they should have been able to get more
The Bread Man for a loaf of bread
Rangers had no choice hands were tied Panarin should have gone elsewhere he won’t like LA!!!
Know Vegas killer Thomas Bordelau
Don't see Panarin fitting in with LA's systems which they are so strick on and set on. That being said it's obvious they aren't going anywhere with the roster they had in the playoffs so taking a swing is I'm sure nice to see for Kings fans. Rangers will probably ruin Greentree anyways especially since he's already seen massive regression since Protas left Windsor just in terms of pts. Still think Greentree should be a 3rd liner but do the Rangers get him there I don't think many people should or will have confidence they do
Another proven commoditiy traded for another "gritty" maybe. Drury likes these guys who can win the battles on the boards, but you've gotta have playmakers that know what to do with it in open ice. But it's about as good as it'll get with Panarin being 35yo.
Chris Drury channelling Eddie Johnston 😂
Panarin just wanted to get as far away from Drury as he could.
This would have been an okay trade if the Rangers didn’t have to retain 50%, did they really need to do that? Or they just can’t be picky so it was necessary
Panarin is the all-time leading left winger in Rangers history with 607 points (205 goals, 402 assists).
Panarin also:
– Leading scoring average in Rangers history with 1.26 points per game
– Second-leading points in a single season with the Rangers with 120 (49 goals, 71 assists) in the 2023-24 season.
Only with time will Rangers fans realize he's a club legend.
Panarin — one of the most underrated players in the NHL. But it's also his fault too — if he'd played in Tampa Bay, for example, with Kucherov (they had a great partnership in the Russian national team) and won the Stanley Cup, everything would have been different. But he chose comfort and money, and he couldn't care less about the Stanley Cup, unfortunately.
Great Video. Even though it is appearing that Liam Greentree might be good & with NMC, I know that there wasn't much leverage, however, Chris Drury put even more on himself by telegraphing that they weren't going to be able to sign Artemi Panarin. Therefore, even given John Davidson & Jeff Gorton created the situation, GM Chris Drury didn't help himself. PS. At the price Artemi Panarin is accepting, The Rangers could have resigned him, if only for his being A Fan Favorite.
