The problem with Regula stepping in, is he’s probably our worst defenseman when it comes to letting the easy chances in the slot.

Picks has the most playoff exp. Out of our goalies. So I'm glad he wasn't claimed.
McDavid's cup chance is closing. He played so many games, including post season past three years, also the 4 nations tournament. That's lot of milage on him. The condensed schedule plus extra Olympic games this season is so unfavorable to McDavid's conditioning.
Hey Austin I have a question, do you think that if all the players on our roster if they played has good as possible, would they be a top 3 nhl team and Stanley cup contender?
How much more evidence do we need that the Oilers are done and will not win the cup with this weak ass team defence. They have been blown out at home more games than one possibly remembers. Each time the team response is to throw the game into the trash and look ahead. Where’s the analysis and problem solving so that this doesn’t happen again?

Austin, if the Oilers give a four or more goals on home ice again this year I am buying a plane ticket from Ontario to Edmonton. I am marching into Roger’s place and kicking Kris Knoblock’s door down and giving him what’s for! Lol.
It’s not even that they suck on home ice, it’s just most of their losses on home ice have been blowouts

Re-evaluating the situation post skinner Jarry trade I realized it never a goal attending issue….it is weak defence problem..where Bouchard is no more a defence instead a forward…nurse just to pick up penalties….Ekholm is doing his best that's all we got for defense….

I saw a clip of the skills competition that Regula has a bomb of a shot. But im sure they know how to develop young guys lol 🙄 management and coaching staff have made this team progressively worse
For all Skinner lovers out there…..he sucks under pressure. He plays well when nothing is on the line he folds. No pressure in Pittsburg and the team has low expectations not expected to do much.
This team has so much mileage on them in the last couple years. 3 playoffs, 4 nations, Olympics, they just have to be wearing down.
You can’t blame the head coach for the team’s poor defensive play and at the same time not give him credit for taking the team to the finals two years in a row. Which is it? If your opinion is that the team would’ve got to the finals regardless, then the team is to blame for the crap team defence.
You get a glimpse of the players’ mindset during interviews and more than once this season Oilers players have indicated that it’s a long season and it’s difficult to be motivated and give their best effort for 82 games.
Does that mean they can turn it on for the final 25 games of the season? Guess we’ll see.
I think they should try out one of Savoie or Roslovic on McDavids wing. I also think we need to see if Nuge can be our third line center(I know he can play center but we have to see who clicks with him on the wing). If I were to make the lines I’d try out something like this.
*note: Hyman played LW in Toronto and I believe his earlier days in Edmonton

I think Freddy’s game is on the come up. I think we should give him an opportunity to reclaim a spot in the top 9.
Doing this gives the team a look at what forward acquisition we would need at the deadline.
