The Chase: Season 2, Episode 7 – “Next Man Up” | Calgary Flames

After months of uncertainty surrounding his future in Calgary, Rasmus Andersson is no longer a Flame.

While the trade with Vegas moves a core piece out of the Flames locker-room, incoming blueliner Zach Whitecloud looks to step in and make the most of the opportunity with his new team, elevating his role both on the ice and in the community.

For most, Whitecloud is a fresh face around the Scotiabank Saddledome. But for fellow Golden Knights alum Brayden Pachal – who landed in Calgary off waivers two winters ago – it represents a reunion. The pair not only played and won the Stanley Cup together with the Knights in 2023… the Canadian prairie boys both lived together when cutting their teeth at the pro level with the AHL’s Chicago Wolves back in 2019-20.

Years later, they’re rooming together again, thanks to Pachal’s gracious invite to help his longtime pal get acclimated in the Stampede City.

As good as the vibes are off the ice, on it, the Flames encounter a tough stretch, winning only twice in the next eight games following the trade and leading into the Olympic break.

However, things certainly end on a high note, with a mic’d up Joel Hanley and the Flames knocking off their provincial rivals in a spirited Battle of Alberta to give the C of Red something to cheer about.

We go behind the scenes and inside the locker-room, with Hanley, MacKenzie Weegar, Pachal, Whitecloud and Joel Farabee all bringing the sound from ice level.
