  1. Dubas can go upgrade mode with Armstrong – Dupuis, Whitney – Kunitz, Perron – Hagelin type of deal, but saving 1st round pick. Rakell – Robertson, Mantha – Tuch, Clifton – Peeke with a prospect and 2nd or 3rd round pick could work. And there is enough cap space to resign whoever we trade for.

  2. Robertson's a stretch. It's hard for the Pens to sign him and re-sign all their upcoming RFAs and UFAs- – Malkin, Acciari, Mantha, Dewar, Solovyov, Shea, Skinner, Silovs etc.
Dumba's unlikely to be re-signed so that's 3.75 freed up.

Perhaps Dorofyev from Vegas is more realistic. VGK are 11million over the cap and will want to re-sign Rasmus Andersson.

New Jersey's another target. Nemec and Gritsyuk are RFAs. They've spent 50 million on just 6 players. Marksttrom is getting a 2 million raise next year. How are they going to pay for Nemec?

  3. As I am now officially back on Japanese Time, and feeling like a kid again, it one, makes me so ecstatic to say the Penguins have four Olympians, and two, wow those Americans huh? It was a very poignant statement that Brock Nelson was the best player with Hughes and MILLER (!!) feeding him the puck for basically four goals. That is to say, I'm awake to see 65 & 67 battle their most heated rival, and say "God, please let Jake Guentzel return to Pittsburgh." It warms my winter heart so much to see Jake flying on the Olympic stage. If it were him winning the gold / raising the cup at the end of the season… that would be just alright.

  4. Now listening to your episode, yeah. if you can move Mantha, Koivunen (cannot likely get Robertson without him or Rutger) and a first down the line, WITH the guarantee Robertson signs at least a 4-year deal (probably >$12 Million)… you have to consider it. If you basically move "roster player for roster player (plus assets)" I think it's a win. And I LOVE Mantha and have since his Detroit days. And good on Cody for his sentiment, I want to believe that too.
