The NHL Has A Cole Caufield Problem…

Contact: sshockeycontact@gmail.com

After years of being told he was “too small” to dominate the pro game, the Montreal Canadiens’ superstar is currently on a historic 50-goal pace in 2026. While the hockey world was busy debating his Team USA Olympic snub, Caufield was busy evolving into the most efficient goal-scoring machine in the league.

In this video, we break down the “Quiet Evolution” of Cole Caufield. We look at the specific tactical changes Martin St. Louis has implemented, the analytical shift from “junk shots” to elite efficiency, and the mechanical secret behind his new “Lateral Pull” release that is leaving world-class goaltenders frozen.

Can Cole Caufield become the first Montreal Canadien to hit 50 goals since Stephane Richer in 1990? We dive into the stats, the film, and the narrative behind the NHL’s most underrated sniper.

  1. You forgot mention he had shoulder surgery . Recovery time was 12 months and he did score 8 goals in the last 9 games of the 23-24 season. He was healing.

  2. Just hope he does his 50 goals. He is a complete player and he was a pro at playing with jack hugues… This is nonsense that he is not in the olympics.

  3. USA is gonna try to win without two of their best goal scorers (Caufield & Robertson), and with one of their best defencemen, Hutson. It’ll be sweet if they don’t get a medal.

  4. Honestly you gotta admit it's refreshing for the league to be less barbaric and more talent focused. You see less enforcers and less dirty hits and player like caufield flourish

  5. Montreal had been buying into the conventional wisdom that size is the deciding factor in selecting players. They seem to have changed in recent years Hutson, Caufield are amazing offensively at the same time they are responsible defensively.

  6. Excellent video–some of the sharp angles that I've seen Caufield score goals from defy comprehension. Your observations about his mental makeup are also spot on. The guy is a cold blooded assassin.

  7. If USA loses the olympics, they better not lose in overtime… or they’ll really regret this snub

  8. AND he's not an Empty Net merchant like Max Pacioretty. In fact, NONE of his 150 goals are empty netters

  9. And Demidov and slav are respectively way better and as good. Good luck to other teams cause laine Hudson is an other generational talent, scoring more points than Caufield… As a defender…

  10. Very big inspiration for smaller players. Great player and had to work so much harder to make it.

  11. This is the first time in my lifetime MTL could have a 40 goal scorer and it’s been magical watching this team become an absolute demon over the past 5 years 🔥🔥

  12. He is also super nice off the ice and has a huge heart. He came to the children's hospital during the holidays and spread lots of joy around all the kids. His smile and attitude are contagious. He may not be at the Olympics but he is one of our Hercules on and off the ice in Montreal and will always be welcome here. ♥️

  13. Looks like the boneheads who run USA hockey didn't learn their lesson from the 4 Nations Cup.
Canada's going to take gold in the Olympics, as well.

  14. The back half of last season was a real treat. Little did we know that it was simply a teaser for the most exciting club in the league to watch. It's not for nothing that habs jerseys are packing in everywhere they play, they play like they're living their best lives and we're just blessed to be a part of the magic.

  15. 1:35 : a feat that has not been achieved in the bell center for over 3 decades''
bell center being the habs home since '96, those number have never been achieved in that building
Caufield is a beast, along with a few other young guys in that team, a few freaky prospects… habs never had so much talent in over 50 years.
The next 5-10 years are looking very good for mtl

  16. The happiest, most likeable player in the league I.M.O. Total assassin and so clutch. If the U.S. olympic team find themselves down a goal or 2 in the 3rd period, it's not the Tkachuk's I'd be wanting. Size is no issue with him. Complete player

  17. Scouts can be fixated on one thing sometimes. Like Luc Robitaille not being a good skater. (Same with Pavelski). He was drated in the 9th round. Ended up scoring over 600 goals and is in the HOF.
Martin St-Louis went undrafted. Too small. He led the league in scoring twice and is in the HOF.
    Etc. etc. etc.

  18. While I'm sad he won't be representing our country at the Olympics, I'm selfishly glad he gets the extra rest. I'm hoping the Habs make a good run in the playoffs this year.
