I don't think the refs go out of their way to deny the Leafs a powerplay, but I do think two other things are in play; refs know the game is actually being watched, so they try to be heroes and the Leafs won't dive or embelish calls the way other teams do. Matthews embelished the other night and everyone was talking about it all night.
I must agree the comments presented here that what is the value added of Sammy and his hockey knowledge to this show ?
He is now a ' producer' doing the dirty jobs on behalf of the ' Stars' of this show. But…still…he is not a brainer. And his comments often suck. Like he would know better than those who have played hockey.
So….he has his own vlog for Leafs fans. Move him there.

Not the leafs year so we cannot have rentals. Lock them down or trade them. I would rather keep OEL on his long term reasonable cap hit than trade him for even a first. As if that first would lead to a better D at that cap hot within two years?!? As for the tank. 6 points back of play offs but 11 up on Winnipeg for 5th. That’s a lot of losses needed to not gift Boston with a top 10! So this is why we sell but we try to win.

NHL media and insiders aren't talking about a major reason players don't want to play in Canada. Many found out during COVID lockdowns how bad politically Canada is. Family having a baby, surgery, funerals whatever the case weren't allowed in or out of Canada. Many players have talked about not being put in a position like that again
