Drouin doesnt score and thats a problem, but the part i dont like is how teams like winnipeg columbus and buffalo just straight shut him down! He cant make a pass let alone a play! He cant move a foot without losing the puck! Go watch the winnipeg game and youll see how he hurts us clear as day. I fear the coach has destroyed Duclairs confidence w that third period benching. that was his first game he hasn’t scored after his streak started. And he hasn’t scored since
I get duke didn’t play well and in the past he deserved those benchings but this move makes no sense, 29 should be the one benched and duke also had his best game against the devils, did Roy forget that ? Duke should be playing over 29, hopefully 29 maybe gets atleast a point maybe that will mentally help him during the break
Bo was out for a stretch, Ritchie is out. JD can play center and take face offs, as you said his analytics are not horrible. I fully expect to see JD sit once Ritchie is back. The addition of 81 and a strong 4th line allows this to now happen. You’re not sitting JD for Zippy or Shabby.
Comparing him to Duke is wrong. If its not clear by now Roy is an effort type of Coach. Watch the highlights of the last game 1st period, Duke does nothing on that goal to stop it. He only plays hard when he wants to and that’s the problem. I am sure Roy spoke with him didn’t work, last year he used the media and Duclair left, Roy has sat the line still didn’t work. 50% effort doesn’t win in the NHL
The way this team defends sometimes its certainly hard to single out Duclair. I thought after last season’s Roy / Duclair debacle that it was a mistake to bring him back.
It’s nice that Mitch is bilingual, but his use of French to pronounce players‘s names is totally affected, as I cannot understand what he’s saying he speaks so fast.
Drouin should have been benched 10-15 games ago. He misses every opportunity he gets and like Mitch said it must be a mental thing at this point. And they should trade Duclair when after Cal Ritchie comes back. I guess this is why Duclair has played for so many teams in his career.
There is a reason this kid never got a long term contract but Lou had to be the smartest guy in the League. With Drouin, he needs to be waived. This is not a slump, he is checked out (for whatever reason). I do t care a ymore. He wont get clai.ed so mah e Ridgeway can fix him
He is far from the only guy who clearly loses effort in the D zone. Im hoping Darache will be changing this lineup pretty dramatically. Too soft, no shooters, it is not a lo eup tjat wins in playoffs.

If you want to have a debate about whether a player who isn't producing should be a healthy scratch that's way different than disciplining a player in game for lack of effort. Has Roy benched a player in game for lack of production? He cannot ridicule Duclair in the media because he is way too sensitive. Instead, he says ok no problem you can sit and watch. Roy is sending a message to the entire team, don't give effort and you will be benched. Would I healthy scratch Drouin? Yes, but not because you have benched Duclair for way different reasons.

Drouin, 1 assist, -4 over the past month, 14 games. Doesn't make ugly defensive plays, but just invisible all over the ice.
