As a blues fan, this WOULD be horrible, (unless obviously you get insane haul) but he's 26 bro. You move Kyrou, buch, faulk, schenn, parayko, etc over him. No chance unless a team decides to overpay.

Thomas won’t get traded. It just doesn’t make sense at all from any standpoint. Especially from an economic standpoint. He’s been the most consistent player year in and year out and you can make the case that he’s yet to peak. He’s scoring 80-85 pts without a legit star winger to play with consistently. On another more talented team he’s 100+ guy. At his salary it makes no sense. Trading Kyrou makes no sense. This is their first down season and the way salaries are trending it would be moronic to trade them. Why, so you can struggle to find another lesser player to pay $10 million a season for??? Hhmm

With guys like 1st,Hage,Kapanen,Reinbacher,Zaharovsky,Pickford,Koivu,Beck,Engstrom,Roy who could be in a package.
When you look at Hughes package unsigned. Getting a
1st+ Rossi- a 2C+ Buium- a top defense prospect+NHL ready prospect 1st rounder Ohgren.
It would take 3-4 assets get a Thomas
Has to be a high end RHD and/or C prospect close to ready coming back or it doesn't make sense

Hage is not going anywhere. While Montreal is now competitive, they aren't a contender. Thomas doesn't move the needle enough.
Montreal is the only team with enough assets to get him as they got numerous amunt of defence and offence talent coming up the ranks and not enough spots to put them so they will have make some decisions very soon.
To call a player a FIRST line player they have to be able to compete against the BEST and not just a player some team sticks on the first line.If Thomas is your first line centre you are NEVER winning a Stanley cup so NO he is not a first line centre.
