Leon speaks after the Oilers 4-3 defeat to the Flames

  1. Thank God, Leon has a 'German' mentality of not beating around the bush, and being frustrated and tired, he let the 'truth bird' out, IT STARTS WITH COACHES! Cause lots and lots of Oilers/Alberta Media, keeps stating that the coaches do their job, it's on the player to be motivated! Really??? Wake up Oilers/Alberta Media, there are other teams and sports where it is obvious that the Coach is the main responsible for motivation and ensuring teams starts well from 1st minute. Think of Jürgen Klopp or Diego Simeone how they get a 'heart attack' every couple minutes on the side-line, how they course-correct during the game, how they manage crisis. Those are the kind of trainers for whom the players go through fire! Knoblauch is weak, he does not manage well any players, crisis, corrections, discipline. A team-coach needs to ensure players come out firing on all cylinders and KNOWING what to do in all situation. Knob is too hands off, he said it himsefl when he was asked, his style is 'hand the castle-keys to the players and let them go'. He is of the opinion that coaches shouldn't talk too much to players, cause they can't absorb it. Perhaps it is him who can't formulate clearly a Play-Strategy, and not the players who cannot absorb it! Knobaluch HAS TO GO!!!

  2. Leon, Du sprichst es aus. Es muss sich dringend was ändern, sonst geht´s bergab! 37(!) Gegentore in den letzten 8 Spielen ist Wahnsinn! Jetzt erstmal Olympia, freue mich, Dich morgen als Fahnenträger für unser Land zu sehen. Grüße aus Bayern!

  3. Thank goodness Leon had the balls to call out the coaching staff. Fans are proud of you Leon for dropping that nuclear bomb openly to the media. A f'n wake up call to Bowman and low event zero testosterone Knoblauch. Coaching staff changes are imminent. The question is…who goes and who stays? The Oilers have to be the dumbest organization in the NHL if no coaching changes are made or no trade packages are getting prepared during this break.

  4. This is why I like Leon. You can feel the emotion going through him right here. He's frustrated as hell and you know it's completely justified. This team is worse than the previous 2 years. And all that starts with the top decision makers.

  5. Wow, some really good truth bombs here! He said it himself … it comes from the top from coaching. “You can’t have five guys going and going.” and saying that they’re not the same team as they were last year and before. It’s true. It’s hard to face, but it’s true. I really hope they can get it together. I really wish they didn’t lose so many good players. Corey Perry, Connor Brown, just so many.. way too many.

  6. He took you to two Cup Finals. Where's the gratitude?

Maybe instead of blaming the coaches you can start focusing on what YOU can do better that'll enable you to win the next game.

Don't worry about what this guy and that guy are doing. It just means your focus isn't where it needs to be, ON YOURSELF

  7. They need a new coach, a new direction. I don't know what to say. Yes, that and got to score first. It's the difference between winning and losing on most nights. A lot of people don't talk about it enough. Here's a quick stat for those of you who want an argument out of the first goal of the game.

1978 Boston vs. Montreal Cup Final

The Canadiens scored first just once (yes, just once!) in 6 games, won the Cup. The team was stacked with 9 future Hall of Famers, plus coach Scotty Bowman, who was also a future Hall of Famer.

2025 Florida vs. Edmonton Cup Final

The Oilers scored first just once (no surprise, eh?) and lost the Cup, also in 6 games (4 games to 2). Probably not more than 2 or 3 of those Oilers are future Hall of Famers. Coach Kris Knoblauch is probably not a future Hall of Famer.

So, unless the team has around 9 future Hall of Famers and that's the only valid excuse, the team in question has no chance.

  8. He just pointed it out – all of it! It starts with the head and goes down to the goalie’s. If they wanna win the cup, they need to adapt, overcome and have to be better at everything!

  9. Yikes he said it. "Starts with the " good on you Leon. Tough to be honest sometimes

  10. Hes regretting signing for 8 years when any team could of gave him the same if not more money and have a better chance of winning the cup with less fan pressure and more player support

  12. Not a fan of players calling out a coach or a coach calling out a player in the media. Keep it in the room where it belongs. Those comments are not what breeds trust among a team. Unfortunately, that will cause more disruption than good in my opinion.

  13. Kenny Hollandaise did the same in Detroit, traded all the pipeline of 1st rounders for old guys just to make the playoffs. Wings haven't been to the playoffs in 9 years. Then he goes to the Oil and trades first rounders for guys like Ekhom and probably others. Now he's going to do it in LA. The coach doesn't get the players, the GM does and I think the Oil have 2 players worth keeping, the rest are underachieving.

  14. WHY does draisatl look so hot and bothered during interviews. Always touching his face ,hair etc. It's like the dude is having hot flashes and having menopause. Dude is straight up weird.
