I think there is a significant difference with the shots that were going off the posts in the first part of the season as they now seem to be hitting the corners and going into the net. Would like to hear about shots off the post before the breakout vs before.
The reason those stats went down was due to scoring effects. They got leads early and played more of a conservative game with the lead(like good teams do)instead of continuing to push for more goals. Before the streak they were getting behind early and were always pushing to score. It balances out and just further proves they are not lucky.
The big difference Greg is that analytics do not win hockey games…its fun to look at the numbers but talent, performance and capitalizing wins hockey games.
