OVERPAID or DESERVED?! Kirill Kaprizov’s Signs Record-Setting Contract With Wild
Kirill Kaprizov just signed the biggest contract in NHL history. People didn’t believe it when they heard he turned down 16 million AAV but the rumors were true. How good can the Wild be now?
If you look at the terms, It's incredibly bonus-heavy; of which the majority of the bonuses are in the first 4 years, then gradually decrease to where the last 2 years of his contract he's actually only paid 13.7 Mil. Still a huge chunk of money, but with the way the salary cap is going, by then it could only be 10% of the cap. The more I look at it, the more it looks like a win-win.
If you think Krill is going to live up to those expectations, that’s insane….Minnesota is in the central…. They will not make it to a Western Conference final in the next five
Plus the cap goes up at least 8mil again next year, so as of right now they have like 23mil of cap space at the end of the season, obviously that will change but only by 5 mil at most. Gotta keep that guy they’ll be fine
As an Avs fan I’ve been saying for a few years now the wild are coming. They have a ton of good players on good deals now they can afford to have one huge ticket. Kirill reminds for of a forward version of Cale Makar so silky. Faber Middleton Brodin zeev are studs, zuccarello Boldy ereksen Ek are all underrated.
Wait 3+ years and it will feel like the worst contract ever in NHL history. I bet on it 100%. Then supporters who were celebrating the signing now will be the biggest criticizers then 🤦🏻♂️ This is only if KK live up the expectations, but if he collapses as huberdeau did, it will take only 12 months to feel as the worst contract 🙃

But you have ek and boldy and faber locked up for like 6 more years for 20mil total.. there is space to add a 12 mill guy next year

He is the only super star we have ever had in franchise history the 2-3 mil over pay is just fine with me to keep the best player in wild history.
