I don’t think it makes sense to trade Barzal to Canucks for Elias. I like Palat, I think he’s a good fit. Panarin is a no go for me. Darche in a conundrum with isles Vets. I mean the guys that been here, I can’t see them leaving. Either you keep them for remainder of season or you get picks for them. Lee n JG. I’d rather keep JG. I love Lee but, he’s got to go I think.
I'm ready to move on from Barzal IF we can get a serious sniper. That will be really hard to do, IMO. He isn't a shooter, he shies away from sending the puck to the net for the greasy goals, and it's proven impossible to get another linemate like Eberle who can predict what the hell Barzal is looking for.
Here's the thing, this team doesn't win anything until we get a world class goal scorer. Sorry… So here is the crazy idea:
To Edmonton: Matthew Barzal Ryan Pulock 2026 1st Rounder 2027 1st Rounder
To Islanders: Leon Draisaitl Jake Walman
-They get a center who can pass the puck to McDavid and has the potential to score 80+ points -Addresses their need for defensive defenseman -They get picks to offset the mismatch in points between Draisaitl and Barzal -We finally get a world class scorer and also get a bottom pair defenseman to fill out our loss of Pulock
Sorry Draisaitl is not leaving Edmonton to go to the islanders, better chance at landing Matthews from Toronto, The islanders need to get rid of Mayfield get a real Defencman in his place and a Proven Goal Scorer 💙LGI🧡
Who can they add that would help this team beat the Canes, Bolts, and West superstars IN A SERIES? Also the team defensive structure is not good, Ilya covers so many warts.
This lineup is not good enough for a deep run, I would rather save future draft picks until they are closer to being a deper and much more talented team.
To this point Darche has gone to the market to acquire Band Aids and he came up a little short in the Palat deal. Before asking what Darche should try to acquire how about evaluating where the Islanders are realistically….The NY Islanders are a team that could possibly qualify for the playoffs this season…what are their chances of winning the cup?….EXTREMELY LOW…they are the second lowest scoring team in the entire eastern conference….defensively they are suspect on any given night…they have above average goaltending. Now what are you shopping for and more importantly…what are you willing to pay?
While I agree that a Kyle Palmieri type move wouldn’t be a big splash it’s certainly a bigger splash that Palat. Palat has been a 20 goal scorer once, Palmieri is a perennial 20 goal scorer. A kyle Palmieri type of move right now would be amazing.
