Another month of New York Islanders hockey included another 7-game road trip and a lot of winning. There were games where the Isles caught the attention of the entire NHL dropping 9 goals in one game, and on the other hand scoring one goal through three games later in the month.
More historic moments this month from Matthew Schaefer, breaking more Bobby Orr records, the 18-year old rookie sensation continues to paint his name all over hockey history. Anthony Duclair, Simon Holmstrom, Tony DeAngelo and Mathew Barzal led the way this month during Bo Horvat’s injury.
As for the front office, Mathieu Darche swung two trades with the New Jersey Devils and New York Rangers. Ondřej Palát and Carson Soucy both make very exciting appearances later in this video scoring their first goals with as members of the NYI!
Ultimately the best news about this month is this 2026 Islanders team has joined the 2019, 2016, 2015, 1986, 1981, 1979, 1978 and 1977 teams in franchise history by recording a unique accomplishment: Avoiding a losing record in any of the first individual four months of the season. ALL of those mentioned teams went to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs!
Here is every #Isles goal in January, enjoy!
