Soucy, Palat and 2027 sixth round pick and swapping 2026 third rounders with NJ for Tsyplakov? Yep. Jersey may be dancing in the streets for getting rid of Palat and I'm dancing in the street getting rid of Tsyplakov. If you are worried Tysplakov has higher upside then fine. He wasn't doing it here. Bringing in another bottom 6 guy? What the heck did you think you were getting for a guy often scratched with one goal and one assist in 27 games and a minus 9?? Islanders as sellers could flip Palat anyway. I like a potential Palat, Pageau, Holmstrom line.
Looking at the two deals together, we got Soucy, Palat, a better 3rd round (if current standings hold) pick and a 6th round pick for Tsyplakov and his 2 points.
Not getting younger right now that’s why he bought in palat who has a good track record in playoffs albeit it’s a stretch because of his age. I’m saying another veteran ( proven ) in this clubhouse might work. Cap is going up next year and they did replace a 3rd round pick. Get Kyrou or Thomas. Easier said than done
Congratulations to Fitz and the Devils…they dumped a rapidly declining asset and picked up some cap relief and all for the low, low price of a third and a sixth. A masterclass in taking advantage of the new guy. For Islanders fans the beat goes on!
Definitely weird moves. Felt like a gut punch at first for sure but I guess getting those picks back made it at least seem clever. As it stands it’s a typical Islander trade, older struggling guys that hopefully move a needle or at least maintain it. 🤷
I think having someone who could put an extra point or 2 every few games from the fourth line, Im happy to have him. My issue is i thought we wanted a younger team?
Totally wrong perspective! They are protecting their youth…. How many times can you call Bridgeport for help and not get it ? let these young call ups stay down this year to develop …instead of not getting minutes because they're not ready with the big club only to go back in 4 days…Darche just solved his 3rd D pair and brought in his OWN GUY who BTW has more rings then anyone on this team who can be a great presence on ice & locker room with a team looking for a playoff spot
I think Soucy will be a great addition. Palat would be great on the 4th as he is physical. I think he will be an upgrade over Maclean on the 4th line. It drives me nuts they scratch Gatcomb and leave Maclean in. Gatcomb is a great hitting forward on the 4th.

We've picked up 2 – 30 somethings in 2 days. I guess we're keeping JGP and Lee.
Soucy ends up being free for the rest of the season.
Man we are gonna be an old team next year if they sign Lee or pageou most are forwards are over 30 and dmen as well slowwwwww

Agreed the Cap hit is crazy. Maybe Darche has a part two a trade that he calls in a favor from Tom Fitzgerald
