Oilers added $9m to their cap this year just retaining Bouchard and Draisaitl. Other clubs didn’t have to do this. This was always going to be a hard season. Next season will be different.

To bad that there’s nothing that can be done with Nurse’s contract as he’s been a issue and he’d be an ideal trade to use to get someone better, or an ideal move where he goes to Bakersfield and they bring up one of their prospects up.

Offer Bouchard Mangiapane and Pickard to St. Louis for Brayden Schenn and Colton Parayko. Then turn around and send some offers with Walman out to Anaheim seeing if you can tempt them on either Zellweger or Mintyukov. Time to blow it up if you want to capitalize on these next 2 years of McDavid. High end Draft Capital for the next 3-4 years is useless for this team. Their first rounders are pretty much second rounders and they don't have a shot at top end prospects.
