The NBA use to play exhibition games at St. John Arena in Columbus Ohio. Ohio States original basketball court. It held about 12k fans. A friend of mine got tickets to the Celtics vs Knicks preseason exhibition game. Again Birds rookie season, 1980. So we go. There's a clip they show all the time of Larry diving out of bounds to save the ball. That was in that game. Damn it was amazing. McHale didn't come until the next season. We got to watch Larry play his rookie season and didn't realize what we were watching at the time!!
