NBA Vet Andre Miller on “Death of the Point Guard” 🧐💨

  1. Jason Kidd is someone who I would show to the next ones up..man ain’t have to score but had major effect on games and teams

  2. The days of a point guard or a real center are gone… it’s crazy, everyone wants to be Steph. Nobody wants to be Kareem or Timmy or Magic anymore

  3. PG is a taxing job, speaking from experience but then again I volunteered to be one. Couldn't resist trying to control the game.

  4. Sports today has destroyed the fundamentals of almost every sport. The NBA and NFL is big time proof of it. There are no roles anymore. In the NBA no more traditional 1-5 roles its just bring the ball up and everyone line up on the 3 point line and shoot 3s. In the NFL defensively you now seeing DBs playing linebacker, wide receivers line up as running backs and tight ends. No more full backs and so forth all in the name of trying to draw revenue

  5. Scoring from the PG spot has been long since rewarded. Pair that other things like CP3's "over the line antics" with ring culture and the disrespect if you're not putting up 20+, the true PG has been gone for awhile.

  6. I miss the NCAA and NBA of only few years past… A.Miller on other's played team…basketball. I watch YouTube old games, maybe in future point guard and organized basketball will return. Great discussion

  7. Blame LeBron James playing out of his position and trying to do everything on the court. I remember when he first came into the NBA, Paul Silas wanted to move LeBron to Point Guard and make him a pure facilitator but he still wanted to be able to score too…. And grab rebounds. Made my man Paul Silas retire smh 😂

  8. I mourn the “death” of the traditional PG too, but the scoring 1’s fasho took the game to another level.

That being said, a traditional PG was the 1st or 2nd best player on a team that almost won a chip this year. You could easily argue that if he didn’t get hurt, they woulda won.

  9. I think it’s less a death and moreso an evolution. Some guards can still playmake but they’re being groomed and asked to make almost every decision on the floor and that often includes scoring. We’ll never see guards like Andre Miller again even if they’re awesom because scoring, spacing and pace is such a huge part of today’s game

  10. When being helpful to others and considerate of what they have going on is not a core value, it is hard for that to translate on the court

  11. Pitino should be banned from ever commenting on the nba.. the disgusting behavior he exhibited in the league.

  12. It is crazy but Melo Ball has the mentality but he is a #2 because he gets bored with the game if he feels disrespect for a teammate or himself. Melo is a highlight and a bucket, if the pass is there he will make it in an unselfish manner

  13. Idk why it’s dying out from a performance standpoint

Imagine having a player on the floor who is a walking conduit for everyone’s success. Idc what you say .. a ball dominant / high fg attempt type pg does not make everyone around him better as opposed to a traditional pg who only scores when it’s necessary.

Lots of off ball guys are relegated to just sitting on the wing .. not even involved in the play .

  14. Position less basketball is the game and has been the game for years. Iverson was the first scoring point guard. I know he was a shooting guard but nobody knew that because he was the smallest player on the court and everyone assumed he was point

  15. The death of the point gaurd is like saying the death of American basketball. We already have players of other countries dominating because they come from team ball
