Mathews is a very talented player but he’s been the biggest floater the last two seasons.
If it looks like the playoffs are too long of a shot by the deadline, I be talking to him about being traded.
They would get the most for him at that time and I’d have to imagine he wants out of Toronto anyway because he’s been playing like he wants out for the last to seasons.
Having guys not wanting to be there has got to be toxic in the dressing room especially with him making the coin he does and wearing the C

Don’t think I’ve ever seen them play harder, tons of checks/looks. Mr Benoit’s hit on 11 was absolutely disgusting, They’re never terrible beats, It’d be a lot different if there weren’t any chances or looks. But there are, and honestly unfortunate they don’t go in, pisses you off, but that’s just more motivation to execute faster and harder.
Honestly my one take away from this game that lacked is speed, not being on top of your guy speed necessarily but quicker and faster decisions, less hesitation, faster execution. Also help Tvare when he’s breaking into the offensive zone, look at any of the last couple of games tapes and you’ll see what I mean, guy gets hammered tryna bring the puck north 😂. Let’s fuckin go boys.

Why can't anyone figure out the meaning of Nylander giving the finger:
1. Can't move the puck through the neutral zone without a dump in.
2. Forced to dump puck in and can't retrieve puck.
3. Hot Potato is a classic, fast-paced elimination game ( Too many to count per game )
4. No anger, no puck battle wins, No hits except the call up.
5. No fights
Even AI can figure out when you add that up it's time to trade everyone for anything you can get.
We just aren’t good enough. It’s embarrassing. We have to do something. Somethings gotta change. It’s time for our star players to step up or to be moved and for the love of God take Morgan Riley off the power-play. Our defensive zone needs to be worked on.
Matthews has to be the worst Captain this team has had since Rob Ramage, Notice how Matthews never takes accountability, never says he needs to be better? He's not a leader man, he's great player, but he's not a leader or a Captain.

Why won't anyone mention how Mathews best seasons were when he wasn't the captain of this team, sorry but he isn't a leader, just like Tavares needs to be moved to wing, question this , just look at the facts and eye test .
Retool for next year. This year is a wrap. No mercy for players with an attitude problem, starting with Nylander. Trade his carefree ass to a team where his attitude can be of better service. Our franchise has a 59 year cup drought to end. Players can get serious about wanting to win or they can flip their birds for some other franchise.
