i’m so sick of this dobes leniency, look at bussi, wolf, wallstedt. i get it he’s young and i get it our team doesn’t really help our goalies out, but cmon man we can lose games when we have double their shots these pucks cannot go in. you had ample time to prove yourself. dump monty dump dober and bankroll saaros
I disagree with the Guhle-Hutson pairing. The team was trucking along just fine with Hutson and Carrier playing alongside each other. Carrier remains Hutson's most common D-partner thus far. And while I do think Hutson's talent and creativity enable him to do things that others couldn't on his off-side, watching him play with Guhle over the last couple of games I noticed that things are not nearly as effortless for him. Passes mis-fire, he's in the wrong spot more. Expected goals may be pretty high, but ACTUAL goals is not (xGF% is of limited utility as a statistic) – opponents have been effectively shutting the Habs down when Guhle and Hutson are on the ice. Maybe this gets ironed out, but maybe it shouldn't have to. Playing Hutson with Carrier was a strategic move – let Matheson and Dobson handle opponents' top competition, and they did a bang-up job, allowing Hutson to work his magic against lesser players, PLAYING LEFT DEFENCE. Hutson was dominant in this role, so even though xGF% is the same as with Guhle, I think the pairing was having a much greater impact on the game (and actually, Carrier was also playing a lot better with Hutson than Guhle is, something that xGF% doesn't really account for). So personally, I want to see what was working before be done again – Matheson-Dobson, Hutson-Carrier as the "top 4." But "top 4" is just a label, it doesn't mean anything. It was working, that's the point. So you challenge Guhle to make it work with Struble and Xhekaj as his main defensive partners. This is what they should be doing for the rest of this season. Guhle's return has thrown off the whole team. Do the thing that results in the least disruption FOR NOW.
However, long term, I think it's wise to get Hutson accustomed to the right side. Like I said, he has the talent and creativity to make it work, but it will take time to adapt. At present, the focus needs to be on him playing in a way that is already the most effective. But he should be working on playing his off-side, in practice this year, over the summer as he trains, and in exhibition games this September. I don't think it will take long for him to thrive there, but this kind of experiment is rather consequential (in a negative way) 60% through a very competitive regular season. The kinds of moves he was pulling off in his sleep a few weeks ago just aren't working as well now, and it's costing the Habs.
No heart no defense no goaltending = no wins
How do you like Laine.. did you watch the playoffs????
I have been rooting for Monty cause he was slowely gaining my trust. But the trust has been broken and i don't see him being our #1 at all going forward….maybe time for a change of scenery would be in everyone's best interest. Give the kids a chance… we have more young goalies coming in the next number of years anyways. Throw em in the water and see who can stay afloat lol Our rebuild has gone pretty awesome imo and it seems as though we r picking up speed….. we need some goalies that can be trusted to not let the first shot of the game in ever other game lol
It seems like the Canadiens eat up goalies, I feel sorry for Monty , sometimes his team isn't in front of him he gets discourage d easily, play the Goalies 3 games each in rotation till the playoffs then the 2 best, I've said for along time it's the coaches, and I've been a fan since 1970 it's alot about how they get along off the ice,…..if you don't get along with your workers your company is not doing well
I'm done with Monty, Laine, Struble. How many chances Monty is being given before they say enough is enough? Meanwhile, Xhexaj was playing his best hockey and is healthy scratched, explain that?
Laine is a contender for slowest player in the entire league, but sure, let's see what he can do. And Struble is supposed to be defensively sound, the number of times I've seen him act as a traffic cone, I'm losing my mind.
Let’s put Raymond on waivers and call up Marciano lmao!
IMO I’d be shocked if the Habs can find a taker on Laine
MARCO MARCIANO FOR PRESIDENT
Ce n est pas monty qui va gagner la coupe.
our powerplay was horrible last night and we cant have 1 guy scoring all the goals. Demidov was a ghost. Slaf gave up so many pucks and made bad passes. Slaf also loves to hold onto the puck in our own zone and lose it. Extremely poor defense all night.
For all you 🤡 who wanted Fowler sent down to get 'experience' and 'develop' what do you think now? Fowler was ready, had the best save .pct on the team. He should be the starter. Because of this archaic thinking about 'development' fools parrot from what they hear, Habs could be out of the playoffs.
They'd be some team ready to take him 🫣
Hutson stay on left side for crying out. Guy was top 5 in league in points not for D -men but overall.
I said it at the start of the season and I'll say it again. There is something not quite right about the goaltending coaching at the Habs. Before they start switching, demoting and trading goalies, there needs to be a serious conversation about why isn't Marco Marciano being brought up and let Raymond focus on more of a scouting , development role or moved out altogether. Also, the PK sucks as does half the D. Thanks guys.
I think Dobson-Hutson next season… I'm ok we manage the Hutson development this season.
It makes sense eventually Dobson-Hutson will get majority of the D minutes, with Matheson soaking up a lot too with PK … Then is it Guhle? I'd kinda expect Matheson to maybe mentor Reinbacher. We need to see if Reinbacher is a top 4D or not or move on
Fowler let him develop, lean more on Dobes absolutely… Monty IMHO not at fault , poor defensive coverage … That being said let's see what we got with Dobes and if trade deadline someone needs a Monty , injury for Cup contending team.
Keep the focus on developing the team , youngest team in the NHL.
Laine to Edmonton makes sense , but for sure would require cap acrobatics to make it work, maybe 3rd team
LA Kings with their weak offense
Or any team with struggling PP
Marty is a complete idiot at times,l truly think that he's detrimental to the team, he's dumbfounded behind the bench
Habs get too many stupid penalties that end up in goals.
Patrick Roy had a 3.36 GAA in his rookie season with a .875 save percentage. It took him another full season before he started to have a consistent .900 SVP
Learning on the fly can work. Jacob Fowler is solid emotionally. Give his the shot.
