Look, no one thinks marner is a bad player, hes clearly a really really good player, but he and his camp are just such BUMS, thats why people wanted him out at the time. Everyone on the "Core 4" had a NMC, marners was the first to expire. He could have stayed but he didnt want to , thats fine. Really good player but unfortunately he's a crappy guy.

Yeh a lot booed but a lot cheered and clapped as well and rightly so I think he tried his best as a Leaf it didn’t work out but come on how many times did Leafs lose in g7 to the eventual SC winners u get a bit of puck luck or ref decisions it could of went the other way there’s a very thin line between failure and success in sport and he wanted to win in TO I don’t have any doubt about that! he’s from Toronto ffs but the pressure got to him and a lot of fans salty because he hometown boy and he left without the team getting true value for his worth, now some of it maybe down to him but u can’t let Dubas & BT off with that as well poor General Management, who knows he may be a Leaf again u never know in Sports! As someone who was very critical of Mitch during his run he deserved a nice ovation, he was always good to the younger fans and community work. He is stills hero to young leaf fans.
It was a good touch showing him with the community and sick kids, I think it reminded the fans that he's more than just a player.
