  1. Monty was awesome. He made at least three "10-Bell" saves. The game could have easily ended up 7-3. The Habs simply get WAY TOO MANY penalties.

  2. Boston goal (PP) #1: Danault play-watching left Arvidsson alone at the back door. Not Monty's fault. Boston goal (PP) #2: Evans failed to pick up Geekie right behind him. Not Monty's fault. Boston goal #3: Carrier fail to check Minten twice, screened backhand beat Monty. Monty 50% at fault. Boston Goal (PP) #4 Geekie beats Monty from way out for a soft one. Monty 100% at fault. From what I saw, penalties killed the Habs and the PK was non-existent. Monty made some good saves but the team let themselves down in an important game. What a waste of an outstanding performance by Caulfield. Thanks guys.

  3. this is why hughes drafted so many darn goalies…at least a couple of these guys will pan out.

  4. Guys The whole team looked extremely overwhelmed in the 3rd period. You could feel the crushing pressure the Bruins were putting on the Habs, dominating puck possession and winning every battle. They had this loss coming, and this isn't just about goaltenders. They only turned on the real grind in the final minutes of the game, which is what they do every time they're trailing. A championship level team would have started doing so at the very start of the 3rd to bury that one and fly home with the win. But we'll get there.

The Habs aren't in their Stanley Cup contention years yet, so the focus needs not be on Monty's bad season. Every player hit rough spots sometimes. Both management and the coaching staff need him to stay in net long enough to get his mojo back so he can then help the team win or get traded away, this is a necessary evil.

The goalie situation will sort itself out by the time the team hits its prime time and we will see a cup back in Montreal soon enough.
The boys are doing good overall and are going in the right direction.

  5. Why Marty doesnt fucking start Dobes is ridiculous. Starting to qusstion his coaching which could be terrible news.

  6. If the Habs don’t figure out the goalie situation the Habs will not make the playoffs we lost a lot of games because of bad goaltending and I hate that they might have to bring up Fowler again,I would prefer him staying with Laval until this year but they might not have a choice

  7. We completely outplayed and outshot Buffalo, and with Cole getting 3 goals himself we should have won this one as well. That's 4 blown points…8 if you consider they were both '4-point intra-division games'. And why? We have the worst goaltending in the league. By FAR.

  8. It looks like Montembeault is part of the rebuild process. With him, you know that every mistake you make results in a goal. On offense, you know that there is no such thing as taking too many shots on goal. Playing with a good goalie, the whole team might lose drive and possibly get too comfortable. So let's give Montembeault credit for his contribution. 😊

  9. I know Carrier is well-liked in the locker room and all that, but on any contender,,,heck, probably on any legit PLAYOFF team…he's a 7th defenseman at best.

  10. The team defence was terrible
    Often out of position.

I don’t understand why Dach decided to fight. From the inside videos, seems like a great guy but doesn’t fit the lineup , needed th Blais and Veleno types as crazy as it sounds but need sandpaper against Bruins

  11. Montembeault is good but not great. He has his moments. Nevertheless, it was a solid game, good match.

Let’s face it, Boston got a bit lucky against Montreal, just like they did against Las Vegas, so I guarantee you that the Habs will win against the Bruins in March.

  12. Monty is cheeks. But how many goalies In the league would have won that game for the Habs. Defensively there almost dead last in high danger chances allowed

  13. Habs D needs an overhaul. Struble, Carrier, Xhekaj need to go. And then maybe Matheson at the end because he can't clear players in front of the goal.

  14. The second line has been quiet the last two games. The 3rd and 4th line need to be overhauled as well, they can't score. Evans and Dach need to go as well. Montreal needs to continue to build more depth. Monty isnt the problem. He is a decent goalie. Sure he'll let it in odd goals but he also makes hard saves. He is good enough at the very least to build a contender and thats all you need. However the team defensive play in front of him is brutal, improving but still needs work.
