Here are two reasons why you can’t trade Laffy at this point. I will preface by saying it again at this point. 1. He Doesn’t miss time!! Very durable. 2. Even though he was a number one pick and doesn’t put up number one pick points. He still produces. He’s more of a third line player at this point. Bonus point: He doesn’t miss time!!! Shane Wright misses time and his point production is even worse. Horrible move if it goes through.
At this point I have to believe that Lafreniere just has zero hockey IQ. It's not a development issue because he's had years on the top lines with great players and hasn't done anything consistently

Panarin will never waive to the kings or sharks, why would he? Unless hes only interested in money and not a cup.
Wright isn't a bad option for a retool you save money and dish a bad contract , if we're gonna be chasing lottery and draft picks no need to blow big money on mid guys.

I would take that trade. I really thought when Laf signed that contract, he had finally figured it all out. Apparently, that one season was the exception.

If it is 1 for 1 for Laf that is idiotic. Wright is smaller and less physical and not as good. Even Byfield is not as good. Keep Laf until end of season and then trade him at ir before the draft
Also Wright sucks on faceoffs so he can't really be an effective center
Shiny new toy syndrome. The bloom has been falling off Wright's rose since BEFORE he was even drafted. He's been MORE of a disappointment than Laf, and the only argument you are making that would normally make sense is: Wright's a center." But…Miller is a center. Zibanejad is a center. Laba is a center. They aren't going anywhere in this shakeup so…where does Wright play? Meanwhile, Panarin will be moving out, leaving a need for a winger to step up in the top 6 and the power play. Laf is more of a need than Wright AND has been better. This would be a dumb move.
