If you acquired a strong Forward (and were fully-healthy), Kindel would come out, for me. He doesn't produce like a 3C on a contender.
50% of his production is from PP1, which he no longer has a spot on.
His 1.04 5v5 P/P60 is likely the lowest among 3C's in the NHL. You can find a Center that gives you 50-75% more for his minutes.
And his defensive game, while ahead of expectations, is very overstated by the fans imo. I could make a whole compilation of goals for the opposition off his mistakes. People ignore them because he's 18. He's -12…that's 7 worse than all other Penguins. He's not Barkov out there, so let's relax.
His talent level is high, no doubt. I'm sure one day he'll be a 2C in this league or better. But if you're going all-in for this year, I don't think he's the 3C you want in a playoff run. He's not that guy yet imo.
Pens D at the moment is the textbook example of the concept of "The sum being greater than the parts." Never thought I'd be quoting Aristotle on here,yet here we are….😂
Hey DK, last night was not against the Flames, it was against the Oilers, moreso it was against McDavid and Drasaitl…….and we all know 97 likes to show up against Sid. I'll use a word you always do, they swarmed, they suffocated any and all movement by the Oilers, and I have not seen Connor stood up as he was last night. I mentioned in yesterday's comment and I stressed this in a conversation with someone who said Pittsburgh hadn't a chance and that it was a sacrificial game. I said its all about the matchups. For the first time the bottom six outmatches most other teams, Lizottes line is crazy, they just outwork everyone, the skyscraper line is such a load for other teams…..but then you have Novak's line, (Malkin) they are clicking and winning their matchups. Than there is Sid's line, well you know he'll make some magic happen, this is where the matchup becomes a win/lose/draw nightly. Last night was a complete sell out by all skaters, everyone bought in and never took the foot off the gas, great to see such a complete effort.
Your question of the day……..about who would you take out or possibly trade, and besides shoring up the defense with a big nasty defenseman, I would look at line one 5 on 5, and it would be Rust. He's a character guy, works hard but a guy you mentioned, Robertson……sorry Rust. The only other one I would possibly upgrade heading forward would be Kindle ( but keep him in the system). I'm a huge fan of the kid and he'll put it all together. I think the unfortunate thing coming from this success is its not about opportunity for the kids anymore, its about making the playoffs and doing something once there. Teams are definitely going at him, pressuring him, and putting the body to him, his saving grace is his skyscraper linemates who have both overachieved. But I agree, I don't know how you pencil Hayes, McGoatry, or others into this lineup without disrupting the lineup, ride the guys that are going, and everyone's going…….a great problem to have!
What is the difference on power play to pull it top three?
One huge difference this year is that when given the chance all four lines are burying the puck in a corner of the net. This is the most skilled team they’ve had since the last cup win.

My favorite thing the stats nerds do is point to excellent goaltending and go “see the Pens are just benefiting from above expected goaltending”, or they look at the Powerplay and go “see the Pens are just powerplay merchants, they’ll level out to what we expect”, or “the Pens are just riding a high shooting percentage, that will level out to what we expect.” That’s what championship teams do! THEY PERFORM ABOVE EXPECTATIONS!!! People are still acting like Geno is getting traded at the deadline. STFU to those PDO, PuckSoup, Wraparound, Athletic Hockey Show losers.
Can’t keep beating up on Kulak. Team is primed for the cup, the wasted years of Crosby and Malkin because of Sullivan!!! “Dump and Chase tactics, flawed badly as you now witness at the NYR”. Muse possession based hockey shows you don’t dump and chase, unless no option, or just for a tactical change just to tilt the ice. Yes he won’t two cups with the best players in the league. Last night was a fantastic game! Aside from the shorty, it seemed every time there was a breakdown in play. Someone came in and their stick or body got in the way of trouble.
Can this run be maintained. Will old legs hold on to and through the playoffs? Just doubtful.

Haven’t seen a team play so terribly defensively like the Oilers. No wonder why Stu struggled. McDavjd was just cherry-picking the entire game
The pens where good last night, but is anyone saying how bad the oilers defense was last night. I’m happy where doing well, but if we can’t get past the juggernaut of a team like Toronto. We will get destroyed in the playoffs

Best defensive game of the season. After playing the night before and Edmonton being off the day before I really thought the Pens would come out flat but boy was I wrong.

I hate seeing the Oilers beat the Penguins. Its always a comparison that McDavid is so much better than Sid apparently, that they dont even consider, Geno at his prime was better than McDavid. They all say "yeah, well Sid and Geno had each other and a team built well around them." Yeah, well, McDavid has Draisaitl and they lost in consecutive finals. Pittsburgh was there too, lost a final but still managed to pull one out. These guys are multi million dollar atheletes and cant finish the job, so stop crying and making excuses for them and admit theyre not as good. Prime for prime, I'm taking Crosby & Malkin over McDavid and Draisaitl every time, and its not even close. Im glad for once, the final result finally showed this.
It's nice to see this team playing aggressive yet responsible hockey. The last few years we got to see one or the other but rarely them combined on the ice at the same time. For St. Ivany, I am seeing him take almost the exact same development route that Ryan Shea has taken. Defense is hard and the development takes a lot of time. He played a very good game last night.
Ive been going to Pens games in Calgary and Edmonton for years… it used to be pretty great butbthat last 3 years have been PAINFUL to watch (zero effort, 1 good period etc) this year I couldn't make it and this! Now I am not sure if I go next year or not … id rather not see more of this than go see what was happening before =op

3 scoring lines and an effective 4th. Not sure we have seen this since the cup runs. I'm okay without Dubas taking a big swing, but I would love for him to find another steal or 2 before the deadline. RHD depth, versatile forward depth. And let's make this run into the playoffs!!
