Matthew Knies of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Dallas Stars All-Star goaltender Jake Oettinger open packs and see which NHL players they pull in Episode 5 of All-Star Breaks Season 2.
Knies starts his pack by pulling Matvei Michkov before sharing a memory about watching Jake Guentzel play college hockey. As his pack continues, Knies finds a former World Juniors linemate, a St. Louis Blues player he roomed with this past summer, fellow Minnesotan Brady Skjei, and even a rival Montreal Canadiens player he admits he hates playing against.
Oettinger opens his pack by pulling Canadiens captain Nick Suzuki and reflects on collecting baseball and Yu-Gi-Oh cards growing up. He also pulls a former Stars teammate now with the Seattle Kraken, points out a couple of players he finds “really annoying in front of the net,” and reacts to some familiar names who’ve scored on him over the years — including Nazem Kadri.
The episode wraps with one unforgettable moment, a bit of disbelief from Oettinger, and a final decision as both players choose their team captains from the cards they pulled.
