Josh Doan SIGNS UP for seven more years with the Buffalo Sabres during career season
The Buffalo Sabres and Josh Doan have agreed on a new seven year contract worth $6.95M per year! Doan has been one of the best surprises of the season, adding an offensive element to his incredible effort physically and defensively, for a terrific all around player. At just 23-years old, this feels like a great time to get a deal done. The trade looking back for Doan and Michael Kesselring for JJ Peterka is looking better and better for the Sabres. Will Doan keep up his goal scoring year to year?
With Doan, where do the Sabres now stand with Alex Tuch, given that their cap situation is looking a little dicey for 2026-27 with very little space to sign Tuch, Zach Benson, and Kesselring. The Sabres will likely have to say goodbye to the likes of Jack Quinn and Jordan Greenway, at a minimum, to make room for Tuch.
Also, a look at the matchup with the Montreal Canadiens, which is a massive game in the Atlantic Division standings.

I have total faith in Doan. Reason #1 he has his dad, and his dad's circle, to talk to and gain wisdom. Just like the Tkachuck Brothers and many more, he will bring it every game.
Adams almost never missed!!!!!
His Dad played 1540 games. That shows resiliency. 972 total points. with 1353 PIMs. Total package.
They have zero cap trouble in 27-28, norris/zucker/greenway/Quinn I think are the cap casualties if needed
If the kid line could somehow keep the chemistry going, that would make Tuch more expendable. I know it was only one game.. and that’s a big ask…
Would anyone pick up Norris knowing what we know now? Especially at that price.
Zucker would be my 1st choice to trade.
How about Laferriere and 2nd or 1st for Tuch from LA?
Who the hell is gonna trade for Greenway?
I’m glad I’m not the only one who was thinking about Tuch when I saw Doan got a contract. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad Doan signed, but the first thing I thought about was the Cap and if we had enough. And we don’t (right now at least).
I’m hoping Jarmo is getting easy signings done and then waiting until he has to dump contracts to sign Tuch🤞. Basically, make a big run in the playoffs and then make the hard decisions after that.
Need to get rid of Power
I'm sorry but I still want Owen Power traded. He might be good but not like knock your socks off good
He back checks, hits, and he will punch someone. Bonus wants to be here!!!!
We have a few big scary defensemen in our prospect pool that can replace Byram next year
Has anybody every told you that you remind them of XiaomaNYC? Not just the vibe or physical similarities, but the voice is pretty close too.
I’d move Greenway for some stale arena popcorn
Are there GMs around the league who would want players like Greenway, Quinn, Morris, Levi on their team? When Doan reaches the end of his contract wont he want as much as he could get? Salary gap going up! Tuch valuable to success of Sabres is of same mindset as Doan will be. Give Power time to develop as player just like Sammeulson. The core of team upper 20s so the window is 5, 6 yrs. You have to give up prospects (Rosen) & high draft rounds to get impack players. New GM has to have a vision as to accomplish the next level.

that's the super easy answer get GET RID of Greenway and powerless. You'll have lots of money. signed up for one year at whatever it was a guarantee that the following year you'll sign him for what he wants.
GET RID OF POWeRLESS ha ha ha ha ha ha ha you think Jack Quinn gives the puck away more than Owen weigh my stick at people powerless come on
Who was the guy the Sabres traded for Gilmore and Dumont way back? Was it Grosek? Dumont seemed like a throw in the day of the deal, but of course made a far bigger impact for the Sabres
Ok you definitely need to get out more. Saying the signing happened due to the bills press conference. This tells me you also believe there are cameras in your microwave.
Sticking with the sabres, it’s a good signing because he plays hard and always hits the net. He’s scoring and CREATING scoring chances for others
Wake up, Joe!!! The timing of this had nothing to do with the Bills. It had everything to do with the huge game against Montreal tonight. This is getting the boys GOING!!!!! Stop thinking about the Bills for one fucking second
