  1. Hard to not be excited as Pens fans. No Letang No Karlson no problem. Here's to hoping for one last playoff run for our beloved trio of Sid, Geno, and Tanger!! Lets go Pens! As always thanks DK for the great episode.

  2. I have been a huge pusher of the tank, especially after that dreadful month of December but I will happily eat crow here. To be fair, I don’t think many else had Novak playing like this, and getting a young speedster with a wicked release in Chinakov is brilliant. I just think unless you get a young talent in return, you still hold onto all your first round picks. Any players that were to be acquired at the deadline for an “upgrade” should be on the younger side of like 26. Don’t throw away more 1st rounders like last decade for guys in their late 20s/early 30s

  3. Thought at first it was an Apology Episode to St. Ivany.

Haha I personally think he actually plays well (even better with Shea). 15 GP – 0G – 5A – 5P + 5. He hits, protect the center of the ice and is boxing out players.

Clearly he isn't perfect, but to say he's baddd is surprising.

  4. Hallandar was doing fine until he had a blood clot. I wouldn't mind dewar for two and accari for 1. Worst case he becomes the 13th forward. If the team continues this it would be hard to break it up.

  5. DK, we all know the Pens have a ton of cap space. With how well the season is going so far, it would be an absolute shame for Kyle Dubas to let it go unused. If there was one player out there you think Dubas should pick up before the NHL trade deadline on March 6, who would that be? Thanks.

  6. I know Skinner playing time is an issue, but St Ivany was possessed tonight. From highlights, you would think St Ivany was out there whole game.

  7. I also wasn't high on Novak. That extends to Brazeau, Mantha and Acciari. My apologies to all of them. Thank you for the crow dinner.
Kyle Dubas has been killing it. Suck it, Toronto! lol

  8. Playing with house money tonight. This one will be tough. But they’ve set themselves up for a nice road trip.

  9. Im right there, with you D.K. my deepest sincere apologies to NOVAK…I questioned our presence…I will no longer doubt you

  10. Hey DK, I will apologize prior to commenting too. Watching the team play as well as they have at times this year has been great. Seeing guys like Novak and Dewar step up and surprise us is outstanding, and I love seeing Skinner getting comfortable in net, he's a guy you wanna cheer for. Now the part I will apologize for is now……..this was Calgary, lets see if they have anything against McDavid and the Oilers. One thing I saw last night was Rust had a horrible, horrible game despite the garbage goal. It was his first point in six, playing with Sid, playing on the first line, and playing on the first powerplay. Now I have been vocal about Rust as I don't think he's good enough to play against the McDavids of the league, and since Rakell's return, he's kind of disappeared and seems to be trying to force plays……hell he's even thrown a few body checks the last two games!!! For this team to win its all about the matchups, can't say enough of Lizzotte's line, they may be the best fourth line in hockey and simply outwork everyone…EVERYONE! Geno's line, sorry….Novak's line is finding their groove and they are winning their nightly matchups. But line one is not and haven't all season, hard to lead the offense when they are chasing and defending, they are playing against the elite and they or I mean one of them is not elite. The only other thing I am noticing is the Kindle line, with his linemates they are a load for other team's third lines but they are sputtering, and I think its on Kindle. I like the kid, he's going to do well but right now he looks like an 18 year old, and that recklessness abandonment he had early on is not there, and he almost appears gunshy. But lets not forget, he was on the number one PP early on and was doing well. So like I said I apologize for critizing the team after a win, but it was Calgary, but Edmonton is coming, can they compete with Colorao, Dallas, Tampa, look at Vegas! Going forward, besides possibly tweaking the defense, there's two forwards in the lineup that make the all important match ups vulnerable, and one of them will see McDavid all night……..put your focus on 17 tonight, watch the panic, the loss of possessions, the untimely dumps vs carrying the puck, the flubbed passes, the losses on the boards, the one hand on the stick, his positioning, his lack of footspeed and agility, I hope I'm wrong I really do, if I am I apologize ahead of time. With 13 million in the kitty, Sid would be getting a new winger, Rust would be trade bait or moved to the third…….where he would be a match up handful?

  11. In the 20 previous years (since Sid has been with the team), we have been to the playoffs 16 years. We have won at least 1 playoff series in 8 of those years. The other 8 years we lost in the first round. That means 12 out 20 seasons we did not win a playoff series.

In the 17 years of Lemieux/Jagr, we went to the playoffs 12 times. We won at least 1 series in 9 of those years. The other 3 we lost in the first round. That means 8 out of 17 seasons we did not win a playoff series.

Currently we have not won a playoff series since 2018. That's a year after the Steelers last won a playoff game. Not great company to be in.

Since we are obviously not getting a lottery pick, let's at least win a playoff series for the love of God.

And btw… Novak's goal was amazing. Happy for him. Brazeau was being dragged on this podcast before the season began and he proved DK wrong. Now it's Novak's turn.

  12. Almost tweeted you after that filthy backhand goal last night but I sensed a video mentioning him this morning 😂 I'm glad people are coming around on him bc he has been really useful up and down the line up. And I don't want to jump the gun here but do the Pens have 3 legit scoring lines and an effective 4th? I'm really liking this forward group when all healthy

  13. Thank you DK. They played very well, and the push back is awesome. One more time and bring it home. Great show DK
